Having control over the decisions that affect my life, and the means to actually act on those decisions.
Both of which I had before - more than most people.
Neither of which I have now - or am likely to ever have again.

In this new world... Manayka. He's roughly a grad student, while Atosho's a full 'professor.' Still, Atosho's a woman. A woman from *this* world. I don't think she's equipped to really understand what I'm going through, y'know?
Honestly, I'm not sure Manayka is, either. Yet he knows a fuck of a lot more about how to live as a male in this culture, and I kinda *need* to learn that stuff.

I have a few characters that are definitely antagonistic toward the MC, but the main Big Bad is the world itself. Even his *allies* frequently give him trouble, just because of the huge cultural disconnect.
The more he integrates into the local milieu, though, the more direct, active opposition he'll be facing.
