For as long as I've been thinking about #WeirdPride, I've been aware that #magic is never far away.
People who experience the world in unusual ways are often seen as #weird, and there's a long (and often uneasy) history of people associating that with supernatural beings, and spellcasting.
I think everyone probably needs a bit of magic in their lives - some wonder, things to remind them of the awesomeness and mysteries of existence. Some people seem content with very little of it, while others can't help but overflow with that stuff.
I try not to begrudge people beliefs that help them make it through the day, but a lot of those beliefs scare me...
I tried to marshall these thoughts, and others, for the #WeirdPrideDay site.

We're co-hosting the first ever in-person #WeirdPrideDay gathering, in Edinburgh on the 3rd of March from about 4. That's just 4 weeks away! All are welcome.
We'll have a kind of open mic, for short talks and performances that are about weirdness, or possibly just weird. We'll also have some crafts going on - making our own #WeirdPride badges and so on.
There will be innings online events happening on Weird Pride Day itself, which is the 4th of March

我不喜歡穿裙子、休閒鞋、牛仔褲、一些大家常穿但我不怎麼喜歡的服飾，我喜歡穿吸濕排汗、防風材質的衣服褲子、運動鞋，還有制服。
我介於一般人與自閉(症)者/障礙者之間，有時候，我甚至覺得自己不屬於任何一方。
雖然我的怪，常常為自己帶來麻煩、劣勢，招來別人異樣的眼光，甚至造成極大的痛苦。我曾被同學、老師和家人質疑、排擠、嘲笑過，但我從來不恥於叫自己怪咖，因為那就是我。
也許我的有些怪，你也有，或曾經歷過。
也許你也因為你的怪，而有不好的經驗。
但在這一天，我想分享自己的怪，鼓勵有意願的你，說出自己的怪，讓更多(害怕、排斥怪咖)人知道，這世界上有各式各樣的人，多樣本身就是常態。也能讓孤單的怪咖們，看見有人和他很像。
我希望有一天，我們都不再因為自己的怪，遭受不合理、不公平的對待。
我希望有一天，我們都能活出自己的姿態，為自己感到滿意、自豪。
我希望有一天，這個社會成為接納、包容所有人的溫暖所在，大家不再追求正常，而每個人都很特別，也很幸福。

雖然對於位在UTC+8時區的人來說，這天已經過去了，但還是要介紹這個特別的日子——每年3月4日的 #WeirdPrideDay (無正式中文翻譯，暫譯為「怪咖自豪日」)！
簡單來說，這就是個 #我怪我驕傲 的日子，可以大方地分享自己的怪異之處。
所謂的“pride”，並不一定是要感到驕傲，更重要的意義在於「拒絕為此感到羞恥」。不知從何時起，每個人都在追求「正常」，碰到和自己不一樣的人，便(出於防禦機制地)排擠、攻擊他們，包含LGBT+者、神經多樣者(自閉、ADHD、學習障礙……)、移民、身心障礙者、邊緣宗教信徒等。這個日子的存在，便是希望每個人都能接納自己的怪/獨特、拒絕對「怪異」的污名化，在安全、不危害他人的前提下，自在地展現獨特！ :blackcat_11127:

@ferrous I never heard of #WeirdPrideDay, and I love that it’s a thing! Possibly of interest, #MGLit fantasy genre, Kaela Rivera’s Cece Rios books — the main character has a “water soul” in a world that prizes fire, and struggles with her family’s/community’s perception of her differences as a “curse.” Also great in #ChapterBooks (on the cusp of #EarlyReaders/MG), Sara Pennypacker’s Clementine is a fabulously “weird” heroine. And in #GraphicNovels, definitely Cece Bell’s El Deafo.
