I'll be chairing this event in a couple of weeks! Very exciting. I've always loved the Radical Book Fair, and it's great to see a #WeirdPride event I didn't organise myself! 😁 Just digging into the books now. Not sure why or how I didn't come across @cjdebarra.bsky.social's book sooner!

Come and celebrate whatever makes you weird! Or the things that boring people find weird about you… That might be your passions and perspectives, your queerness or neurodivergence, the ways you exist in this weirdly normative world.
This is a chance to meet and spend some time with your fellow weirdos. We'll be providing crafting materials, so you can also make your own Weird Pride badge, or something else related to weirdness.

The 4th of March is Weird Pride Day. This is a day for people to embrace their weirdness, and reject the stigma associated with being weird. To publicly express pride in the things that make us weird, and to celebrate the diversity of humankind.
We are gathering for Weird Pride Day on March 4th. We’re hosting an all day online celebration in our Discord.

- Use our mix of text, voice/video, and stage channels in Discord to cover caves, campfires, and watering holes and various communication modalities.

As a weirdo, I have mixed feelings about the use of 'weird' to attack the far right.
Obviously, it's accurate. Also it seems to rattle them, and I appreciate that.
I just can't help worrying about people reinforcing the stigma against weirdness without registering what they're doing.

I think it's important to be clear: the far right, including Trump's crew, absolutely are a bunch of weirdos.
But it's not their weirdness that's the problem: it's that they're the kind of weirdos who are *ashamed* of being weird, and who fear weirdness in others.
