  1. The Next Monty 3D Environment Simulator

This is an overview of the state of Monty’s 3D environment simulators as of December, 2024. It discusses existing constraints and highlights where contributions would be particularly helpful.

  2. 💡 #notes on XYZ is dead

Bacronym D.E.A.D. as a progression with camelcase to indicate where a technology is… and capitalization to indicate the end of a cycle from dead to DEAD.

    developed becomes Deployed

    edge case becomes Enterprise

    advisable becomes Alternatives

    deprecated becomes Decommissioned

#WardleyMap into ibles and ables of possible, permissible, sustainable, repeatable, and advisable — the implication being sometimes things are D.E.a.d. on arrival in most Enterpise businesses.

80% projects fail, this is norm, they're not defective. What makes the 20% exceptional?

One lens to use: Structure components of project as a map--not a graph--where position/space reflects maturity on inventing-to-well-understood axis. Each position area has their own better and weaker approach, from in-house development to off the shelf (and extensive configure) to commodity just buy it.

  4. I'm working on some content about #data and #ai #strategy development, and this is my "work in progress" #wardleymap of the landscape at the moment. Observations and suggestions welcome.

  5. @tristanls sounds good, Tristan. Unlikely to connect soon but I hope to get back to some maps in progress around the (USA) holidays. Love meeting more of the #WardleyMap (and #TeamTopology) community so feel free to ping me here anytime.

  6. It's very cool to see @jay’s #PlatformEngineering #WardleyMap (and see how it's powered by @tristanls's service 🤩). I look forward to getting off the MapKeep waitlist to extend it into the realm of related services (service management, cost showback, architectural auditing).

  7. A multiplayer update is coming to Mapkeep. See what's new and join the waitlist.

  8. @secretgeek @emilybache That’s a solid piece of advise, and that could be mapped onto a #wardleymap, the more at the right the more it should be automated.

  9. In #wardleymap how would you map outdated software usage?
Like spring boot version 1.4 that is not even on the list of version history.
Or VB6 or whatever . COBOL?

  10. @boris @jessmartin A couple years ago I made this map, which smells a bit like a #WardleyMap, of various techs around #metaverse/#blockchain. (It also included #Spritely and #ActivityPub.) I feel like I need to add the different components of #DXOS and other current players....

  11. Things to consider on your next #BusinessContinuity discussion or #WardleyMap in a strategy meeting: your cloud database provider discontinuing its service in your region without you receiving the memo, and recovery is no longer possible 😨

  13. Hey @hiredthought - I'm going to sit down and #wardleymap hypothesis driven product development. Before I do that, are you aware of existing maps that have already done this? Cc @johncutlefish

  14. Thanks to Ben @HiredThought for doing a remote #WardleyMap training session with us!

@swardley is a recommended follow for the company (we are building cloud infra after all!), & we used our recent company retreat to all get better at using mapping to communicate.
