User needs mapping on top of it, team structures against the value chain, reliability engineering and threat modelling, all on one map, one landscape. Then a stressor analysis from Barry O'Reilly's Residuality Theory.
Two routes into the same territory, and each route came from where the group already was. A framework would have failed both of them.
Where would you start a group of architects on day one?

Have you watched our interview with Simon Wardley yet? 😀 We talked about the impact of #AI on software architecture.
Key takeaways 👇
🔸AI’s role in strategic decision-making and software architecture
🔸Why humans must remain in control of architectural decisions
🔸The dangers of blindly trusting AI-generated code
🔸The growing importance of critical thinking in tech adoptionCheck out the full interview 👉 https://t1p.de/u3hhi

The iSAQB was sponsor of the "Agile meets Architecture 2025" conference in Berlin, where experts from around the world gathered to share their insights. 💡
We had the privilege of conducting a fascinating interview with Simon Wardley, inventor of Wardley Mapping, in which we discussed the powerful potential and possible pitfalls of integrating AI into company processes. 🤩

Question for #wardleyMapping experts: I want to visualise the evolution of a system to be able to fulfil a need. Some parts are not existing today ("left" from Genesis). Would you still put it in that column as an evolution step, isn't it? Would you map it as 2 capabilities, v1 as it is today and v2 the more complete version?

Last week I had the opportunity to give a keynote at a federal DoD conference on the future of public safety and technology, focused on the use of the Team Awareness Kit. Also got to bring some #WardleyMapping with it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2M1rf5WpCcg

Sometimes You Don't Need a Wardley Map
Starting with a full Wardley Map can be challenging. Now, when a full Wardley Map is not needed, you can customize whether the Value Chain or Evolution are visible.

One of the hardest things when you start with #WardleyMapping is that it forces you to understand your users and their needs.
That's the biggest barrier I found when people started to effectively adopt WM.
You need to continuously learn about the current user needs and future ones. But if you just assume you know, you are missing a central peace of the whole WM journey, the anchor that everything derivatives from. Creating a sense of understanding the landscape but indeed, you don't.

This new approach (like Wardley Mapping) is CC-BY-SA 4.0 and freely available for everyone to learn and teach. Eventually, this will become a freely available course.
It is still a work in progress, but I invite you to meet with me. Your feedback and experience will be kept private, but will directly influence the approach and teaching material to make it most effective for yourself and others.
Schedule your 30 minute 1-on-1 session here: https://calendly.com/mapkeep/wardley-mapping-intro-prototype

Have you tried Wardley Mapping and didn't see the value in it, got lost, didn't know what to do, found it all a bit overwhelming, or all of the above?
If so, then I have a new approach you might like. This approach provides immediate value, keeps you on track knowing what to do next, and paces everything in a way so that you're not overwhelmed by the complexity of it all.
