I switched from Chrome to Vivaldi 3 months ago. But I only discovered Web Panels this week. OMG, they are _amazing_!

It just so happens that I built the perfect thing for such a sidebar 1 year ago: my OFFI[dot]CEO alternative to the Microsoft Office home page that MS decided to redirect to M365 Copilot instead.

Oh, Vivaldi 8.0 came out yesterday, but I got the update today in the big old update that dropped for my Garuda Linux PC…It's looking so slick as already the new themes feel coherent and less busy!

Love the new layout, that makes right-side tabs look so much better. I appreciate that the team is always looking to make their browser functional, keeping it slop-free, and pretty as fuck!

ok @Vivaldi I just installed the browser on 3 different machines: linux laptop, android phone, windows desktop. In less than four hours:

1. Took me 90 mins to set up and required how-tos (wtaf)
2. Syncing between devices does not actually sync anything of value: no workspaces, no open tabs, no reading list
3. I managed to crash the browser (windows desktop) by dragging a tab to open in a separate window (wtf)
4. 1password has issues & the 2FA is not time synced which means it does not work.
5. Tried to share a tab from Android phone to Linux laptop: nothing. No pop up on laptop (I was in front of it), no error on phone. Nothing.

I know I get what I pay for, but for such a hyped up browser, the functionality is zero.

I had been using Firefox on my Android phone because, unlike mobile Chrome, it runs extensions I want, UBlock Origin and Privacy Badger. But I hate the new AI focus of Firefox. Vivaldi doesn't allow extensions either.

About 10 days ago I switched to the Waterfox browser, a Firefox fork, and love it. It effortlessly let me sign in to my FF account and transferred my bookmarks. Extensions: no problem. It's run flawlessly. Not a hint of AI.

Je viens d'installer Adobe Acrobat Reader, parce que la fonction de remplissage de formulaire marche bien, contrairement à celle de PDF24. Mais c'est une vraie daube, cet Acrobat Reader : il est allé m'installer une extension dans #vivaldi_browser sans poser la question ni informer. Heureusement, le navigateur l'a détecté, l'a désactivé et m'en a informé.

As much as I love the way #vivaldi_browser handles tabs, tab groups and workspaces, I've reluctantly moved back to #firefox. Poor memory management and regular freezes make #Vivaldi almost completely unusable and it's been getting worse with every new release. Shame.

*EDIT* - Added 'workspaces'.

#vivaldi_browser on desktop allows to save history on "session only", so history will be deleted when closing the browser down. @Vivaldi it would be great to do this with cookies too and extend this functionality to #ios Thanks

I made a Vivaldi.net email! I think it required a recovery email address as well as a phone number to make. That's not so great for privacy... 🐁

I'm still trying to figure out what the best email solution is. Ideally, I'd like to have an email where I can "approve" messages from certain senders, so they're not all automatically added to my inbox.

I think #DuckDuckGo started a service that lets you approve email addresses before they're sent to your email.
