I love seeing my community come together to support the marginalized. In a perfect world, it would have been a bigger crowd, but that there was a crowd was good. That we could be in the center of downtown for two hours and only one person yelled an obscenity as they drove by was good.
That my 11 y/o could see love and joy and solidarity demonstrated amongst queer and trans and nonbinary people was very very good.
And the art was beautiful.

My kiddo and I went to our city’s Trans Day of Visibility rally this afternoon. At first, it was just the kids who were using the sidewalk chalk, but after the speakers finished, almost everybody present added something to the ephemeral display.
It’s raining now, so it will be gone by morning, but it was beautiful while it lasted.

Zum #TransDayOfVisibilty möchte ich noch was positives nachreichen. Nämlich wie problemlos das hier in einer norddeutschen Kleinstadt nahe Bremen ist.
Anlass speziell heute: Wir waren wieder im Schwimmbad und ich konnte die stellvertretende Betriebsleiterin mal persönlich kennenlernen. Die hatte ich vor unserem ersten Besuch angeschrieben, wie das denn für mich als schon ziemlich sichtbare #trans nichtbinäre Person funktionieren könnte mit Umkleiden und Duschen und wenn es Konflikte gibt. Die tolle Antwort: „Kommen Sie ruhig her, benutzen Sie die Räume, die ihnen angenehm erscheinen und wenn was ist kontaktieren Sie mich“.
In den acht Jahren hier hatte ich als genau ein negatives Erlebnis und das war aus einer Gruppe Kinder/Jugendlicher heraus. Ansonsten nur freundliche, "ganz normale" Begegnungen, bei denen ich häufig über trans und #nichtbinär aufklären konnte, was interessiert aufgenommen wurde.
Das liegt sicher zu einem gewissen Teil an meinen sonstigen Umständen und Privilegien, ganz klar.
Ich bin aber trotzdem immer wieder sehr positiv überrascht, wie offen und zugewandt die Leute hier sind.
