  1. How Plausible Is ‘#ProjectHailMary’? #Astrophysicists Have Thoughts
Based on hard #sciencefiction, a genre that prioritizes scientific accuracy, the blockbuster gets a lot right but misses a few things, experts say.
Armchair #physicists and even some actual physicists have powered countless online threads with questions around interstellar travel, alien life and why Grace, who has a doctorate in microbiology, can’t seem to balance a centrifuge.

  2. From #CETI to #METI

…❛❛ In 1971, dozens of #astronomers & #astrophysicists convened in a conference room at the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory in #Armenia for the 1st joint #American & #Soviet conference on communicating with #ExtraterrestrialIntelligence. American & Soviet scientists had met independently to discuss the topic in the early 1960s ❜❜…

Actually, #thankyou. At @KronoMoon we want folks to consider the possibilities of #TimeTravel without making false promises or relying on spurious #research. The #truth is, many reputable #astrophysicists #think about #interdimensional #exploration and #wormholes all the time. They often conclude that it's too expensive or will take too many years. The probability is #nonzero.

  4. "#Astrophysicists in the #NanoGrav collaboration have found evidence for HUGE #gravitationalwaves that could be due to merging supermassive #blackholes. This was all possible due to pulsar timing arrays which triangulate the positions of pulsars across our galaxy to work out of the distances between them change due to a passing light year long #gravitationalwave!"

    - Dr. Becky Smethurst, #astrophysicist at the University of Oxford (Christ Church).

  5. New images from NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope (#JWST) reveal for the first time #galaxies with #stellar bars — elongated features of stars stretching from the centers of galaxies into their outer disks — at a time when the #universe was a mere 25% of its present age. The finding of so-called barred galaxies, similar to our #MilkyWay, this early in the universe will require #astrophysicists to refine their #theories of galaxy #evolution.
