  1. Nice coverage of last month’s National League of Cities panel on adaption to climate change. It was a privilege to share our experience along with Salt Lake City mayor Erin Mendenhall, Moab UT mayor Joette Langianese, and Portland, OR, councilor Candace Avalos.

One nit: I view our namesake oaks as an asset, not a liability! We face far bigger fire risk from non-native stuff such as fan palms and arundo grasses.

  2. My dear friend and hero in local activism, Bob Waldrop wrote a book, really a compendium of resources on permaculture, frugal living, gardening, and so much more.

Bob has passed on back in 2019, but I think it is important that he not be forgotten, so I’ve decided to republish his book "iPermie: How to Permaculture your Urban Lifestyle" as a PDF (released under a Creative Commons Non-Commercial share-alike license).

  3. How much growth is required to achieve good lives for all? Insights from needs-based analysis

Provisioning decent living standards (DLS) for 8.5 billion people would require only 30% of current global resource and energy use, leaving a substantial surplus for additional consumption, public luxury, scientific advancement, and other social investments.

    Dadurch entsteht robustes #Transformationswissen.
