A Wisconsin judge on Saturday declined to stop billionaire Elon Musk from handing over $1 million checks to two voters in the state at a planned rally days before the closely contested Supreme Court election.
The state attorney general, who argues that the offer violates the law, immediately appealed after the judge refused to hear the request for an emergency injunction to block the payments.
The ruling is the latest twist in Musk’s deep involvement in the race,
which has set a record for spending in a judicial election and has become a litmus test for the opening months of Donald Trump’s presidency.
Trump and Musk are backing Waukesha County Judge Brad Schimel in the race, while Democrats are behind Dane County Judge #Susan #Crawford.
Musk plans a rally Sunday where he intends to give a pair of Wisconsin voters $1 million each for signing an online petition against “activist” judges.
He is also offering $100 to anyone who signs it; he previously gave $1 million to a Green Bay man who signed.

Former U.S. national security adviser #Susan #Rice delivered a damning critique Thursday of Donald Trump and his foreign policy agenda for aiming to appease Russian President Vladimir Putin during the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
“The fundamentals of national security — that America needs to be strong, that we need to stand with our allies, we need to stand for our values, we have to mean what we say … never used to be under serious question,” she told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell
“And along comes Donald #Trump, who really is like the #Neville #Chamberlain of the Republican Party,” Rice continued. “He’s an appeaser. He’s a surrender monkey. And that’s what we’re seeing in his approach to Ukraine.”
Chamberlain exercised a policy of “appeasement” during his tenure as British prime minister in the years leading up to World War II, in a failed attempt to prevent Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler from expanding German control of Europe and waging war on the United Kingdom.
Trump has long been accused of having a "curious" relationship with Putin and recently refused to endorse a Ukrainian victory over Russia.

U.S. Sen. #Susan #Collins voted for former South Carolina Gov. #Nikki #Haley in Tuesday’s Republican presidential primary, becoming only the third member of Congress to back the longshot challenger to former President Donald Trump.
Collins, a longtime Trump skeptic who was one of seven Republicans to vote to convict him on a Democratic impeachment charge related to the Capitol riots of Jan. 6, 2021, backed Haley in a Friday statement in response to questions from the Bangor Daily News.
She called Haley “extremely well-qualified” to be the first female president.
“She has the energy, intellect, and temperament that we need to lead our country in these very tumultuous times,” Collins said. -
