  1. Lost #DoctorWho episodes found in 'eclectic' collection

Isaac Ashe and Simon Ward, March 12, 2026

Excerpt: "A cardboard box found in a collector's 'ramshackle' collection of vintage films contained two episodes of Doctor Who that have not been viewed since airing in the 1960s.

"The episodes feature the first incarnation of the Doctor, played by #WilliamHartnell, tackling a #Dalek plan to take over Earth, the solar system and the galaxy in a storyline only ever shown in the UK.

"#PeterPurves, who played the Doctor's assistant Steven Taylor, was invited to the Phoenix Cinema in Leicester on Wednesday under false pretenses to view the two episodes, and he said: 'My flabber has never been so gasted.'

"Restored versions of the episodes will be released on BBC iPlayer this Easter."

  2. I went to bed last night smiling at the news that two lost episodes of Doctor Who have been found. This morning I even peeked in on a Doctor Who forum. It really is heartwarming to see fans born in the 21st century getting excited about black-and-white episodes from the 1960s starring Big Billy Hartnell. As we older fans approach the finishing line, it's good to know the torch has been passed.

  3. So nice to wake up to Doctor Who missing episodes news. Most people have linked to the wonderful BBC News article, but here is the link to the Film Is Fabulous press release: filmisfabulous.org.uk/missing-

  4. The thing about the Time Meddler is it’s nearly impossible to see it with the surprise as it would have been on broadcast. Elizabeth Sandifer (Tardis Eruditorum) argues the story should be called The Saxons or at least The Watcher (first episode title).

While it’s a trope now, before this point historicals didn’t have sci-fi elements in them. Finding another time traveller was a true shock!

  5. One of the things I like about the early Doctor Who years is the evolution of the show and character.

The story of the first Doctor is the story of how a time traveling coward became a time traveling hero. It’s not until his final story that he becomes the Doctor we are familiar with today.

The story of the second Doctor is the story of how the mythology around that time traveling hero evolves and transforms him into a Time Lord.

  6. Who is Number One?

Sixty-one years ago, Number 100 and Number 2 tried to convince the Doctor he was in 13th century Cathay rather than The Village.

  9. My very favourite Doctor Who Christmas special is one of Big Finish's Short Trips. 'O Tannenbaum,' by Anthony Keetch, is a delightful story, delightfully read by Peter Purves. Set in an old cabin surrounded by forest, it's the Big Finish story that Bob Ross might have painted.

Not a favourite of mine, although I love the Cybermen look in this story. You can rate and review the story as well as find out some facts and figures over at TARDIS Guide:
