  1. It all depends on your point of view... #BNWmacro There was a big thunderstorm last night, and misty high humidity this morning. Flying ants everywhere... This spider had a windfall. 3. #February 2, 1861
    #OTD Joseph Seamon Cotter Sr., American #Poet, #Writer, & #Community #Leader, is born.

Raised in #Louisville, #Kentucky, Joseph was one of the earliest African-American published playwrights.

    His #Poems could be #Poignant:

The #Flowers take the tears of #Weeping night,
& give them to the sun for the day's #Delight.

    He could also be #Clever:

What deeds have sprung from #Plow & pick!
    What bankrolls from #Tomatoes!
    No dainty #Crop of #Rhetoric
    Can match one of #Potatoes.

  4. My previous post was about the #Gardener Katherine White.

After she died, her husband E.B. White, #Author of #CharlottesWeb, wrote a little #Verse for their close #Friends & #Family.

To all who #Loved my lovely #Wife.
To all who spoke their #Sorrow,
I send this printed card of #Thanks
    So l can face #Tomorrow.

I'd hoped to write a full reply
    To each, to say #ILoveYou.
    But I'll #Reveal the sticky #Truth:
There's just too many of you.

#OTD Leonie "Nelly" Sachs, #German #Poet, is born.

In 1940, she fled to #Sweden where she lived the rest of her life. She was a #Poignant #Voice for her fellow #Jews.

In #Chorus of Comforters, she wrote,

    No #Herb may be #Transplanted
    From #Yesterday to #Tomorrow.

The #Sage has faded in the #Cradles--
#Rosemary lost its #Scent facing the new #Dead--
Even #Wormwood was only bitter yesterday.

We are #Gardeners who have no #Flowers
    & #Stand upon a shining #Star
    & #Weep.

  6. I prefer #Winter and #Fall
when you feel the bone #Structure
    in the #Landscape
    the #Loneliness of it -
    the #Dead feeling of winter.

    Something #Waits beneath it.
    The whole #Story doesn't show.

    - Andrew #Wyeth, American#Artist & #Realist #Painter. He loved the #Land.
