The Church were heavier than expected last night. "Tantalized", "Grind" and "You Took" were scorchers. "Metropolis" is still beautiful and the new songs all sounded great. Steve Kilbey: "This may be the last time, who knows? I'm turning...40 next year." #thechurch #stevekilbey

Can’t say I like the new single by #TheChurch. Between the lack of dynamics in the vocals (even for #SteveKilbey) and the soulless programmed drums, it sounds like a demo that should have been left on #TheHypnogogue’s cutting room floor

#NowPlaying The Church, "Gold Afternoon Fix". I have a strange relationship with this one, as it was my intro to the band, but was also hamstrung by the fallout from the colossal success of the preceding album "Starfish". Some killer songs, though; the closing "Grind" is still a huge favourite. #TheChurch #SteveKilbey
