Delgado Community College sold its lpfm radio station to Loyola University. It was amicable, Dolphin radio was freeform community radio and HOWL radio will be too. Dolphins's GM was retiring. I just listened to their last broadcast. I might be currently listening to the first song on HOWL. I think it was Captain Beefheart. How often do you get to listen to the death and birth of a radio station?

So, one of the things I love about listening to #CommunityRadio is the randomness of the music selections. I hear new-to-me music (sometimes in genres that I don't usually listen to) as well as "golden oldies" from my early childhood.
Streaming services either throw stuff at you (based on algorithms) or can keep one stuck listening to the same music over and over (which can be good for "comfort listening" and recalling memories, but not for sparking new pathways).
