Gardeners of Mastodon. When I dig for crops that do best out of trenches, I find lots of steel slag in my soil. It could be coal clinker, but some the lumps are bigger than my hand. Was there a fashion for using steel slag to break down clay soil at some point? My clay soil isn't too heavy anyway, you could just get in and grow most things without mucking about trying to lighten it. #garden #sheffield #steelslag
