  1. In the #AlternityRPG #StarDrive setting a galactic circumnavigation gets easier the bigger your ship is (because bigger ships can teleport further), but at the typical technology level it would still take years or decades, and might also need refueling stations.

In #Warhammer40K, you can circumnavigate the galaxy through various means, all of them dangerous and most of them immoral. Just don't visit the Warhammer 40K universe if you can avoid it. It is a grim and dark place.

  2. Anyway, my imaginary spaceship is a small interstellar scout, built by a human colony world that was abandoned due to its former overlords being distracted by the Second Galactic War (which, in the #Alternity #StarDrive universe, lasted over a century and blew a lot of things up).

I will call the homeworld "Novayashin", which is short for "Novaya Shin New Fiji Nueva". For unclear reasons, citizens of this planet are called "Space Possums"; most are human but with a few added alien refugees.

  4. I've got a habit of loving the IDEAs of RPG settings but hating all the details: Example: I love a lot of the trappings of #Spelljammer, but can't stand what they did with it, so I idly write my own ships-in-space setting in my head. I've only tried to run it once, and it failed due to grad school burnout.

I also like #StarDrive for the #Alternity system, but again, want to tweak and rewrite SO MANY things.
