Not sure if this can be seen if you're not logged into BlueSky, but the Cult Edge crew have just released the latest in their Blake's 7 Production Diary series. Lots and lots and lots of material about actually making the series, with bits of script, production team notes planning the next series and the next few episodes, quotes from cast and crew.
Having seen the books for Series A and B, I've seen a lot of the quotes before, but scattered across different interviews. Here they are, collected into one nice fat book. The real joy is the insight into how the series was made - literally a diary of filming, casting, script writing and revisions. There's a 30 Days of #Blakes7 meme going on, which I'm taking part in on DreamWidth. This has resulted in an entire warren of plot bunnies, some of which have been badly distracting me at work. Now that it is the weekend where I can actually start writing them, or at least bits of them, can I manage to put pen to paper? No, I can not. Not even a sketch for later. It's all vanished, like tears in the rain. Bah humbug. I haven't written fanfic for decades, partly because plot ideas were mostly for things I wanted to talk about via profic. I would quite like to write fanfic. Thanks, migraine amnesia. 🙄

Sad news for #Blakes7 fandom today. Michael Keating has died. it's nearly 50 years on and we're now rapidly losing cast and crew members. I'm glad some of them have lasted long enough to see how enormously popular their work on the show still is with the release of the Blu-ray sets.

My wife once won Michael Keating in a raffle. Not a photo or something—the actual Michael Keating. It was in the late 1980s, and we got to go out for a meal with him before enjoying his performance on stage in Noises Off.
When we met him, he looked a little wary, perhaps thinking that being sci-fi fans we might be complete nutters. However, we seemed to pass muster and he quickly warmed up to us. And what a charming, witty, and thoroughly delightful fellow he was. R.I.P.

The actor Michael Keating, best known to generations of science fiction fans as the roguish and irrepressible Vila Restal in Blake's 7, has died at the age of 79.

Vale Michael Keating who played Vila on Blake's 7. If a show about terrorists living in a cold authoritarian galaxy had a heart, it was him. Amazing actor and by most accounts a lovely person.

* A bakery ride on Sunday morning with a couple of buddies and then a few hours of retro gaming in the afternoon. Cooked Cottage Pie for me and daughter, then settled in for a #blakes7 sess.I hope everyone made the most of theirs!
