'Our Daily Bread' by Mark Angus, 1984, in Durham Cathedral. I understand that the window was commissioned by Marks & Spencer to celebrate their centenary. It's rather good, I think. #StainedGlassSunday

The Illumination window by Mel Howse, 2019 in Durham Cathedral. Doves hover over water and fire, all symbols of the Holy Spirit. The intention seems to be to shed coloured light into the aisle, but there's much more to it than that. #StainedGlassSunday

I rather like this photo I took in St Chad's Church, Hanmer, on the border of #Wrexham and #Shropshire. But the foreground presence of the candelabrum might irritate #StainedGlassSunday fans of the William Kempe designed #Victorian window glass. (Welsh hero Owain Glyndwr was married here, btw.)

2/3 The Ascension and the Good Samaritan, Hexham Abbey. The figures are by Jean-Baptiste Capronnier, c1870 but Capronnier's dark backgrounds and canopies were removed in 1960 and replaced with blue textured skies by Elders Walker to increase light into the choir. #StainedGlassSunday

Medieval stained glass crucifixion scene at Llanasa in Flintshire. Llanasa was one of the most important churches / monasteries in #NorthWales, holding the relics of the evangelist St Asa, but when they were moved to the 'new' cathedral of St Asaph, its glory days were over. #StainedGlassSunday
