Most big #LLM seem to spit out stories about a guy called Elias Thorne when asked to generate a story. @404mediaco reports on this and the background in https://www.404media.co/elias-thorne-chatbots-llms-chatgpt-lighthouse-keeper-story/, based on the resarch in the preprint "Elias in the lighthouse, again": https://doi.org/10.48550/arXiv.2605.26492.
A quick search in #Spotify: some #AI guys called Elias, alls producing music since 1-2 years, some of them suspiciously productive. One has more than 3k monthly listeners.

As if another reason to avoid #Slopify was needed. Now, it seems, they are enabling scammers.

Nothing like a Friday afternoon decision by Shopify to break all of their stores' checkouts by unselecting all of the provinces in the shipping zone configuration!
Thankfully one of our customers wrote in to report that they were seeing a "shipping is not available to your location" message and the fix was relatively easy. Otherwise nobody would have been able to order from our store all weekend!
(Yes we're working on migrating away from Shopify)
