Pro-tip: YA isn't a genre. It's a filter.
Filters are used to limit pass-through, not enhance it.
Corollary: Most people who buy YA books will not read them. They make them available for people who are actually YA.
Yes, it's a big market segment, but it's stratified across genres and markets (library, school, trade).
By the time it gets down to your particular niche? Not so big.

Marketing tip: If you write stuff few people read, very few people will read your stuff.
Corollary: If you write stuff that few people are willing to pay for, very few people will pay you to read it.

The AI pushers have the same problem that pirates do. The same problem that all publishers do.
They have to find an audience.
The pool got deeper, but the ocean is too wide to pave over. Silt sinks unless the waters get stirred.
The self pubbers who survive will be the ones who curate their audiences over time and support their peers.

@novelx123 Hi Phil. I self publish through Amazon aka KDP ( Kindle Direct Publishing). They provide the ability to upload paperback and e-book manuscripts. I use MS Word for formatting (lots of YouTube videos on the subject). Scrivener is a better tool but isn't compatible with Grammarly (my proofing aid).
I designed my own cover for my first novel but I'm thinking of using Damonza for the next two. Not cheap but good quality.

I'm working on a #Comic that will be in a #zine that my comic #collective #Arthorse-comics is #selfpubishing once a year at the #berlin #comicfestival #comicinvasion . This years theme is #resistance and my comic is about the resistance i met while beeing a #smalltown #punk. Its the first time i do everything digital in #krita.
