Vor 84 Jahren: Manolis Glezos und Apostolos Santas reißen Hakenkreuzfahne von der Athener Akropolis herunter.

In der Nacht vom 30. auf den 31. Mai 1941 bestiegen die jungen #Antifaschisten Manolis #Glezos und Apostolos #Santas die #Akropolis in #Athen und rissen die dort seit der deutschen Einnahme von Athen am 27. April 1941 gehisste #Hakenkreuzfahne vom Fahnenmast.

Apostolos Santas sagte später in einem Interview: „Wir gingen. Der Entschluß war gefaßt. Entweder holten wir das Symbol der Nazis vom "Heiligen Felsen" unserer Vorfahren, der Akropolis, herunter, oder wir würden sterben. So zogen wir los“ (zit. nach Weber, S. 53).

Diese erste Widerstandshandlung in #Griechenland war ein Fanal, das viele #Griechen zum #Widerstand anregte.

Ihnen zu Ehren wurde 1982 eine Gedenktafel aufgestellt. Der Text auf der Tafel lautet:
