There’s a nice walk along the #Dart and here can see an old #masonry #arch #bridge which connects the town to the other side.

River Dart at Totnes Bridge

Had a lovely day aimlessly wandering around the Dart Valley NR. Walked from New Bridge to Sharrah Pool (tempted to have a dip), then channelled my inner mountain goat to scramble up the steep valley-side (no path to speak of) & explore White Wood. I had it completely to myself, wildlife notwithstanding! Saw pied flycatchers, dippers, grey wagtail & goosander, & heard many more, but the highlight was hearing wood warblers! Very good for the soul.

The River Dart at Staverton incredibly high & in flood this morning.
I heard a loud, high pitched squeaking/chirping noise, looked for a bird, but then saw otters in the fast flowing water! Hope they were just communicating & not in trouble. Any #otter experts?
Feel so lucky to have seen them. I didn’t manage to photograph though. Pic of the medieval bridge & mill instead!
