Time to enter the Bazaar of the Bizarre!
The #ResurrectedRecordPlayer has had the belt moved to 45rpm. Things are going to get seriously 80's weird!!
Kicking off in style(???)...
Soft Cell
Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love GoI have serious issues with the dichotomy between the cover art style and the EP label style BTW.
Sorry, Not Sorry for pointing that out if you hadn't noticed π

These are very scary levels of good. Like 'slap myself to stop from grabbing another' level of good! π€―
I have inhaled three in much too short a time period. And yes, they were Very Adult. So here we are... βοΈπ€―βοΈ
That's likely good news for those that haven't stomped the #ResurrectedRecordPlayer tag into oblivion yet. I no longer possess the fine motor skills to operate complex machinery like the Spin-Clean or completely manual turntable.

I need something more Live-ly. This will do and it's unopened! It's first play time!
Grand Funk
Live Album
Capitol - original release 1970, 180g re-release 2016 - US pressing(?)Verdict: most live albums aren't worth the effort of a premium pressing. Usually muddy, unbalanced sound with a poor 'spread' of sound. This one is surprisingly very good, especially considering the 1970 original press. Some nice jamming and crowd interaction

OK. I have a number of Echo and the Bunnymen LPs. I must have really liked them right? Let's see if it has stuck.

Here's another one I really don't remember that well (if at all to be honest). I remember the band and also remember liking the first album.
Band formed in Vancouver in 1982. First album was Worlds Away which got a lot of attention in Canada at the time.
Let's see about 2wo. π€

80's here again. How about something you don't remember owning and have absolutely zero idea of what the band genre and sound is? Could be interesting...

Flip time judgement: definitely 80's new wave but not bad actually. Quite surprised how many tunes I remember.
Fun fact: Eric Boucher their roadie had a later career as Jello Biafra of The Dead Kennedys.

@TreasureDev I was buying the Samsung because I was willing to pay ~250 more for the Samsung for the longer support period (ironic that)
And the stylus. I really thought that would help me

Not a #ResurrectedRecordPlayer toot but this just came on and I love this.
The fact that it samples 'The End' by working lyrics from it into the stanzas of this song may have something to do with that association.
Doors gone Metal as it were. Suits beautifully. ππ

And that's the end of #ResurrectedRecordPlayer for now. I have to do some things that aren't amenable to returning to the record player every 20 minutes.
These will likely come in intermittent bursts.
It's being streamed through the house via Sonos but when I'm doing this I prefer the AVR speakers for full attention.
Now off to write down the many steps to undo this and get back to streaming so I can automate it down to an icon press in #HomeAssistant

Definitely my introduction to electronic music. Saw Friedkins movie Sorcerer in high school and the soundtrack freaked the living π© out of me.
Likely among my very first LPs when I got the turntable. Not first (forget that exact one) because it may have been a bit hard to find. Can definitely say it was the first LP I played when taking things out of storage.

Carol Pope and Rough Trade were making in-your-face LGBTQ+ music very, very early in acceptance.
I think of them of local but it is quite possible I learned of them through the college radio network (or a cassette tape copy) which was only way 'subversive' music spread then. I know the traditional means was unavailable to them.
Very big part of my current You Do You first. Just don't be annoying about it view on all communities.
Likely why Mastodon fits me so well.

#ResurrectedRecordPlayer going more local.

Understandably considered local. Also short life span.

One good thing about that snow?
I'm inside with the #ResurrectedRecordPlayer again. It was pulled out again a couple of years ago and integrated with a modern AVR/Sonos system. With a whack load of, it turns out, immaculately preserved LPs from the early 80's as an engineering student in Waterloo, Ontario.
A strange little peek through the straw at what the kids listened to back then. π
Album info in IC. Read it if interested. I generally add something not in main toot.
