  1. Gotham City was rife with criminality. Residents were grateful for having the #DynamicDuo in keeping the villains and their henchmen in check with a punchup.

  2. Spent much of the day cleaning out the in-laws garage so we can try and fit a car in there. So glad I don't have a hobby (woodworking) that requires physically large amounts of material (wood) and large machinery (table saws, etc).

All my hobby hoarding is digital (except for the computer parts, but those fill a few shelves in a closet not a 3 car garage!).

  3. GitHub - 1993 Edition

  4. In case you missed this nice write-up in 404 Media:
    404media.co/the-digital-packra
Yeah, it's about that nonsense at #Amazon and #drm, etc -- and this rodent can really identify with the article's author, about hoarding. #packrat (Now, I'll also take the opportunity to remind #SROP readers that our #ebooks are different with regard to "licensing". See our FAQ page for details.) #bookstodon #books

Oh look, it's the to the rescue! Some wall foam from another project.

Now that looks much more 'server' rack!

  6. The just won a gold medal.

The low time record for junk-spotted-and-acquired to junk-purposed to junk-deployed has been absolutely shattered!

The unknown melamine boards with the dishwasher? Just stiffening supports for the packaging. They are some sort of dense fibreboard. No idea why they were plastic wrapped other than they will absorb water and degrade.

Anyway, absolutely perfect size to support the incredibly handy shelf I have on this banister.

    With stuff!

  7. You need to ask? Of course the keeps empty fish food containers.

Haven't forgotten heat shrink on a connection since I put this *directly* in front of my soldering iron. Move it out to the work area when I start and heat shrink is sitting in my face to remind me.

  8. Made some significant progress on the topper today.

Got too tired to continue and started making mistakes but this is a good place to stop for the night.

I'll add the top neopixel and double check the wiring tomorrow before firng it up flat like this when I'm (hopefully) fresh. And yes, the telco patch wire is back again!

An initial foray into electronic 'sculpture' where I can hide all my mistakes!

  9. This is their (now discontinued) ESP8266 Colour WiFi Display kit. The ESP8266 is a Wemos D1 Mini Pro.

Comes in a very nice case, good protective packaging for parts and everything you need. The board for mounting the D1 Mini Pro and display is inside the static bag at the front left that is reflecting a lot of light.

    Designed by Fred.

Not a surprise that the still has an unbuilt kit. I gave one to a local teen who was interested in electronics. Trying to set the hook as it were.

  10. Ooops! The just whipped his tail down across my hand!

One does *not* make twist ties out of perfectly good unused wire! Especially straight off of the spool!!

    Ouch!

Now using the snarl of telco patch wire that I collect every time I see the opportunity. Yellow/blue should be good enough, it's 28AWG and the protected strings for the lights themselves are much more visible than I expected. Even more so than the green outdoor ones I had there before.

    Won't matter when it's dark πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈ

  11. It's everywhere. Is there a worldwide shortage of lames I didn't know about? This is nuts!

    But you know what?

Scalpels are really, really sharp; the blades are very cheap and there are *lots* of blade shapes.

Not only that, I can use them for lots of other tasks. πŸ’‘πŸ’‘πŸ’‘

There is likely even one (or more) lurking somewhere. Now where would the dental tools be hiding? πŸ€”

  12. @amanzer how long are they? πŸ˜€

Just kidding, I'm sure there's something here somewhere. Just a matter of finding it. Or making it!

    I got lots of junk!

  13. @kibcol1049 so close and yet so far. Found my headphone extension cable which, of course, being the πŸ¦– I am has a quarter inch plug.

    Need β…› to β…› πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

Time to do the only possible thing. Leave this out in a really annoying place and let my subconscious dwell on where my self may have stored something like that. πŸ˜‚

I am entirely unsure of whether the fact that I have found a multitude of β…›->ΒΌ adapters already is a bad or good sign.

  14. So, thanks to *ahem* helpful interest, I spent some time thinking about blades.

I don't have the skills/knowledge/tools to *make* something like that.

But *sharpen* it, that's my territory. Even a razor blade.

    Meet the KBQ Slasher.

Let's see if I'm talking through my hat.

    * if this works, future me would to *thank* @smellsofbikes for the hours to be invested in modifying the 22 remaining unused blades.

Cuz this here will find it impossible to throw them out now! πŸ˜‚
    πŸŽ’πŸ€

  15. Aww, crap, I know what happened (can be fixed with just any bolt, however) -- left this outside and a pack rat stole it, likely!!! Shiny bolt for its nest... #packrat

  16. The type of thing I find while looking for a stud finder.

Hasn't been legal tender since 2021. Pretty much out of circulation for a decade before that.

    πŸ€πŸŽ’

  17. Hah! Got ya!

You're either going to have to buy something or get that 3D printer going to fix the broken foot on your BT keyboard!

    Nope. Still got junk.

    πŸ€πŸŽ’

  18. Hmmm. Either everyone is baffled or (most likely) no-one is particularly interested.

    Tough. Here's another clue.

    Likely the giveaway one.

  19. And here's another project now on the go πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

    Any guesses?
    ❓❓❓

  20. 3D printer for an enclosure? Nah, don't think so.

    I don't need no steenking 3D printer.

    I'm a . I have junk!

  21. Think I’ll make this storage room into a yoga room. πŸ§˜β€β™‚οΈ

But what to do with the stuff when you can never throw anything away?

    #yoga #packrat

  22. I have had two small neodymium magnets sitting on my desk for... Years. I salvaged them from some tech packaging that used them for a satisfying snap close.

Anyway, today I attached them to the stove pipe baffle below our bird houses. Now I'll have a place to "stick" the nails when doing #NestWatch instead of losing them.

All of this to say, tasteful hording of potentially useful stuff is a good thing! #packrat #hoarder

  23. Ann says we have a lot of boxes of "rocks".

Hmm...Let's take one & see what is in it.

It's time for ***WHAT'S IN THAT BOX?***

  24. So. Went down to the archives (basement of horrors) looking for something else and came across these.

Do you know anyone looking for IBM DOS 3.10 or the Microsoft MS-DOS 5.0 Upgrade on 5ΒΌ" floppy disc? πŸ˜‚

  25. We have a LOT of different people on site today, indeed this week, including from India Geologic Survey and executive leadership...
My #gisday is therefore at the office - and this is one wall of my office, all the things I have collected like a #packrat from my #engineeringgeology, #environmentalscience including nuke site cleanup, more - and now my #spatialhydrologist by osmosis
