Fortunately, (a) I rarely need to visit #tiktok urls (ugh), and (b) yt-dlp still works.
It's a bummer, though. People need #privacy-respecting front-ends.

The main #nitter instance has been a bit sad lately, either overheating itself, or being rate limited to oblivion. The good thing is it finally pushed me to spin up my own and while I was at it I also got a #ProxiTok and #bibliogram. I'll probably rarely use those two, but it's still nice to have them.

CW: Alternative TikTok Frontend
(Mostly copy/paste from my #Nitter post, swapping out terms)
I am hosting a small #ProxiTok server as an alternative way to access #TikTok.
Currently it may buckle under any substantial load, but I can always scale it up. Figured it would be better to share it with the community than lock it down and hoard it myself. I've never used the app or made an account, however I get sent funny or entertaining links to TikToks all the time.
You can search and explore TikTok as normal, as well as subscribe to an RSS feed of an account, all without ads and tracking. Traffic egresses the ProxiTok instance so TikTok has no idea who you are or where you come from.
Replacing "tiktok dot com" with "frogtok dot lol" will let you view the TikTok through the alternate frontend i.e. https://frogtok.lol/t/ZTRxsMoNx/
Using an extension such as https://github.com/libredirect/libredirect you can automatically redirect commercial sites through privacy-focused alternatives, all of which are configurable.

Nonetheless, I would strongly discourage the usage of TikTok in any form.

You probably already know some alternative front-ends for #privacy-invading online services, e.g. #Invidious for #YouTube or #Nitter for #Twitter. They let you browse user content without tracking you, displaying ads or requiring you to log in.
Now, there's also such a front-end for #TikTok called #ProxiTok. Try it out at https://proxitok.herokuapp.com!
