Ich hatte das früher schonmal angefangen, aber jetzt im Ruhestand habe ich (hoffentlich) auch die Muße, das weiter zu verfolgen.

I have various ways of #relaxing through #painting I really enjoy taking leftover paint from my palette and applying it randomly to the paper. Then I set it aside and forget about it. Weeks or months later, I dig it out. Then I look at it, turn it this way and that, and think about what I’d like to do with it. Sometimes I like the results, and sometimes I don’t. It doesn’t matter. I’ve had two opportunities to switch off my brain. That’s what counts.

Why?
a) It’s based on a photo
b) I drew it in August
c) I’m not really recognizable
and
d) I rarely look this grumpy
But I would have posted it eventually anyway, so I might as well sneak it in here. 😆

Every now and then, I still sketch people from photos in my DIY sketchbook with the colored pages. I try out different pens while I’m at it. I like some of the drawings, but others are a bit questionable. The one I did with the neon markers falls into the latter category. I wanted to try something really crazy, and it turned out weird.
It was still fun, though. -

Well, such a dark paper isn't exactly my strong suit.I decided to leave the drawing done with the white Gelly Roll 10 as is and not add any more details. And I actually really like it.

I'm still having a lot of fun working on my DIY sketchbook with colored paper.
The dark brown paper was a challenge.
I also complained to my husband that he almost always wears his plaid shirt when we go hiking. It's so hard to draw.

This portrait is again on 35.5x28cm Strathmore tan paper, but this time with watercolors. The paper is not really suited for lots of water, so I tried to keep it minimal. I used Polychromos for some line definition and some acrylic for the background. As a reference I used a picture on unsplash from Darshan Cudasama.

For Christmas I gave my "kid" a big set of Shuttle Art acrylic markers, he has done some cool things with them, so I asked if I could give them a try. This is the result I got with them. I also used some polychromos pencils for outlines and the background. The image is done on Strathmore Tan paper 35.5x28cm.
As a reference picture I used a picture of Brooke Cagle on Unsplash.com. -

Since I liked how the blue on black portrait turned out in my 15x10cm homemade sketchbook , I wanted to try it with some other colors. This crazy expression face is done with a purple polychromos pemcil and some white.

After the bigger colored pencil drawing of the pierrot I decided to make a watercolor version. This one is with Holbein watercolors on Boahong Academy Cold Press 18x12.5cm paper. And I added some details with a black polychromos pencil.

Ich fand #Buntstifte schon immer faszinierend. Papierblock, Anspitzer und eine Handvoll davon eingepackt und überall #kreativ sein. Mit Malfarben geht das nicht. In den letzten Jahren habe ich wohl jede Packung gekauft, die mir begegnete. Allesamt im günstigen Preissektor. Richtig Spaß hat Malen damit nicht gemacht. Also wurde es Zeit in die Profiliga zu wechseln. WOW 😲 Klar, irgendwoher muss der Preisunterschied ja kommen, aber was für ein Unterschied 🥰
