Reading this was honestly confronting. As a pescetarian, it’s easy to tell ourselves fish are somehow “different”, but the science is getting harder to ignore.
Some species can suffer for 10 to 20 minutes after being pulled from the water, gasping and in distress before losing consciousness.

Last night's dinner was salmon rubbed with salt and bourbon barrel smoked sugar, a goat cheese and parmesan polenta, caramelized onions, and roasted asparagus.

I'm sadly out of scallions, so this morning's breakfast includes just #broccoli, #carrots, #shitakemushrooms and some #tinnedfish.
As an aside, try changing up your #ramen game as follows, for healthier results:
1. Discard 1/4 of the noodle brick before cooking. Processed calories.
2. Add veg, such that there are more veg than #noodles. Healthful.
3. Don't drink the broth at the end. Sodium. -

I made broiled salmon and potatoes to go with our leftover creamed spinach.
And that left me with leftover braising liquid, which I saved by turning it into a gravy. Starting to feel like this will turn into one of those centuries-old ongoing stews.

For any folks looking to experiment with a more #PlantBased diet (or simply reduce consumption of high-carbon industrial factory farmed meat) in the new year… I lived on Morning Star corn dogs for my first few months of vegetarianism 13 some odd years ago.
The fact that they were one of the first vegetarian products, and they still make ‘em today is a testament to their “craveability.” Still a rare guilty pleasure for me.

Today a friend took us to lunch at a fave place in downtown #KC. I spotted a #vegan bowl on the menu that really spoke to me. And dang, it was good. Vegan food doesn’t have to be boring. ( @Jillianmarisa and I are #pescetarian / #vegetarian)

There is no authentic reason why you can't afford pasture-raised meat. Feedlot meat is so hideously trashy that it ends up being a #FalseEconomy.
Quality #PastureRaised #Meat may cost slightly more by the pound, but a smaller quantity really goes farther in the kitchen.
#Feedlots, on the other hand, are not just cruel, but the conditions at them are gross. The product it puts on the shelf is garbage.
Going #Vegan, #Vegetarian or #Pescetarian is also an option.
