Here’s a shower curtain featuring my #sturgeon #paddlefish and #sturddlefish designs as one of my final #artadventcalender posts. My parents ordered this from Redbubble a while back and it’s probably still the only one of its kind.

Go Paddlefish!!
"Many native fish are also captured and surveyed (all native fish are released), including 46 #Paddlefish at one site in April 2022. The high abundance of native fish indicates the effectiveness of the method at catching fish, and is also a positive indicator of the health of these native fisheries."

And here we have the unlikely #sturddlefish progenitors - the Russian #sturgeon, Acipenser gueldenstaedtii and the American #paddlefish, Polyodon spathula.
What is notable about these two lovely species is that they happened to diverge over 180 million years ago!
For reference, human beings and mice last shared a common ancestor around 90 million years ago.
