Funderar på om den svenska översättningen i Cyber Resilience Act har tappat en viktig nyans när engelskan definierar open source som "software the source code of which is openly shared and which is made available under a free and open-source licence which provides for all rights to make it freely accessible, usable, modifiable and redistributable" vilket har översatts till "programvara vars källkod delas öppet och som tillhandahålls inom ramen för en licens med fri och öppen källkod som ger alla rättigheter att göra den fritt tillgänglig att användas, modifieras och vidaredistribuera". Det jag stör mig på är missen av Oxford-kommat i sista uppräkningen. En bättre avslutning vore enligt mig "fritt tillgänglig, fri att användas, modifieras och vidaredistribuera" För visst blir det en betydelseskillnad?

I have been so fixated on the Oxford comma lately. I'm starting to judge my colleagues by their usage or lack thereof, but not quite sure how. I used to be an Oxford comma gal, then it was deemed unnecessary. I refused to switch, until one day I did and now I should be using it again?

The mentioning of the Oxford comma sends a strong outward-reaching signal that the author knows the Oxford comma.

On the thorny issue of the Oxford comma I'm personally on the team that says any sentence where it noticeably increases or decreases ambiguity is poorly constructed. Redraft time.
I use it sometimes but generally prefer to avoid it for aesthetics reasons, it's certainly not something that should ever be load-bearing.

Popped onto the other place (or the other other place? BlueSky in any event) to catch up on current events. Not much useful today but I did see this headline.
The context was someone, not usually an Oxford comma advocate, saying this headline would benefit from one as the current text makes it sound like Katy Perry is Bezos's fiancé. A comma would clarify that she's not.
But surely it's actually more misleading that way? Katy Perry gets put in a subordinate clause!

I am doing my onboarding training for my new job, which requires reading lots and lots and lots of policies and standard operating procedures, and most of these were written by people who do not believe in the #OxfordComma, and I am therefore involuntarily twitching repeatedly throughout the day as I read them.
