text generated by an AI-model that was instructed to recognise an em-dash in its training material as a sign of more dependable, authoritative writing.
It's a shame that no.3 has drowned out the others in ignorant "How to spot AI !!!" influencer posts—the em-dash is a useful bit of punctuation.

Every once in a while I visit this short video by Elle Cordova, to refresh my enjoyment of her erudite sense of humour. I watch it once; then I realise I need to watch it again; then again, and again, and so an hour passes with this short piece on permanent repeat, each repeat revealing another nuance in the battle of the punctuation marks. A flawless masterpiece.
En Dash speaks to Oxford Comma:
"_I signify every word and blank space in a page range, I am the infinite stairwell between integers, I am the bloody embrace between two countries at war, and on a gravestone I am the entire life lived between birth and death, who are you?_ " -

I think very carefully how to punctuate my poetry because I want you to read it the way I do.
When struggling to get Maths graduates to use anything other than full stops. I would make them read aloud.

What about punctuation? Do you just go with commas and full-stops? Maybe stretch to the occasional emdash? Have you ever used a semi-colon or something a little more exotic?

I've been told twice now by 20-somethings that punctuation, specifically periods, are rude.
Punctuation is still the best system we have for improving clear expression, clarifying structure and meaning, and reducing ambiguity. It's responsible for the largest jump in scientific and medical advancements we've seen so far simply due to its role in research papers.
If using periods makes me an asshole, I'm ok with that. At least I'm clear about it.

We should please do away with the hyphen in Wi-Fi. Same as we did with E-mail. And maybe capitalization, same as Internet.
Example: we use the internet to check email via wifi.
Please vote now (you don’t need a birth certificate + marriage license + state ID + social security card).
