Irgendwann angeregt durch den Blog Eintrag von @BUnicycling https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/b-unicycling/diary/395010 bin ich heute wieder auf ein paar "Prellsteine" im Ort Nové Hrady gestoßen und diese natürlich in die #OSM Datenbank hinzugefügt.

Der erste #OSM-Tag fand im Rahmen der #FOSSGIS2016 in Salzburg statt - seit dem ist der OSM-Samstag etabliert und Tradition.

Am #OSMSamstag wird über generelle oder spezielle Themen der #OpenStreetMap diskutiert, diese werden vorab im #OSMWiki gesammelt und am Veranstaltungstag in Timeslots & Räume sortiert. Eine Onlineteilnahme ist möglich.

Der nächste #OSMSamstag findet am 28.03.2026 in Göttingen @unigoettingen am Geoinstitut Göttingen statt. Vor Ort gibt es Pizza zu Mittag.

I was watching Mission: Impossible – Fallout and have noticed they've used #OpenStreetMap in one scene. I then proceeded to sit through the credits to see if they included the required attribution—they didn't :(

Wanted to fume about this online, but then I looked it up, and I'm not only the first person to notice, but there's apparently a #OSMWiki page that mentions this

Mostly telecom=service_point (DSLAM/MSAN or OPT for optical) and telecom=exchange (HvT). I've put some more links to #osmwiki and some background info here:

Within Berlin, we have only 3 "grey cabinets" tagged as connection_point (Kabelverzweiger, passive devices) and 89 as service_device (active devices that don't do distribution frames) as well as around 100 exchange's. The exchange tags are probably complete, but every exchange bundles a *lot* of connection_point's, or, with the increasing amount of outdoor DSLAMs, service_device's.

With FTTB/FTTH the DSLAM is either moved into the building (Micro DSLAM) or DSL is foregone completely, thus reducing the need to tag these, but KVz's still persist (as purely passive distribution points, now routing fiber rather than copper).
Also, most KVz are not tagged to specify the medium (fiber/copper) they are connected with, DSLAMs should probably always be tagged as fiber.

But not all "grey cabinets" are telecommunication infra, some are used for other devices. You can query them using https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:man_made%3Dstreet_cabinet.

Ich liebe Bücherschränke, vor allem jenen #Bücherschrank, der sich in dem kleinen Nest ohne Kultur befindet, in dem ich mein Leben friste. Wie heisst es so schön auf dem #OSMWiki: "Ein öffentlicher Bücherschrank ist ein Stadtmöbel zum Austausch von Büchern." Dann halt ein Dorfmöbel, ihr arroganten Städter, ihr!

Diesmal untenstehende Ausbeute, nicht benutzt und spannend. Hingebracht habe ich Bücher von S., solche mit angeblich "emanzipatorischem" Charakter. Sagt manfrau das heute noch so?

@elperronegro there are plenty of offline and online (active internet connection required) apps that can aid with your mapping experience.

Definitely would recommend to record all hiking trips, so that you can either upload the GPX file or overlay it in your editor of choice. I currently use #RunnerUp, though have used #FitoTrack and #OSMtracker in the past.

The #OSMWiki has a list of apps that can aid you. (If the ones I suggested disagree with your -case.)

#MappingChallenge (Day 211/365)

Did a round of personal notes cleanup with the oldest ones back from July 2022, which were poorly described. So I should go there again to improve upon. Plus will still need to add the images that I snapped for each information board.

Closed about 70 notes.

Added details to the #OSMWiki pages concerning `grit_bin` and grit silo.
