@tante The "Open Source AI Definition" was the final straw for me to recognize OSI for what they are (at least have become): a capitalist apologist shill group.
I do not like that this is true.

I've had concerns for a while about the direction the #OSI has been going with AI for a while. The publishing of the #OSAID weakens the #OpenSourceDefinition.
I'm not a member but the definition does require community participation in terms of the licences we choose and how we advocate for Open Source.
The recent board elections showed a disturbing pattern of obfuscation. We need to be able to trust Organisations that are meant to safeguard what Open source is.

Γιατί αυτό είναι τόσο σημαντικό; Γιατί αν δεν έχεις ΟΛΑ τα data του μοντέλου, δεν μπορείς να είσαι (καθόλου) σίγουρος/η για το πως αυτό λειτουργεί.
Στο #Fossdem την προηγούμενη εβδομάδα μάλωνα με «αξιωματούχους της Ε.Ε.» που λέγανε ότι αυτό είναι «απαραίτητο κακό».
Σήμερα η κατάσταση έχει πλέον ξεφύγει[1] και ο καθένας λέει ότι θέλει. -

The corporate hacks at #OSI have defined the LLMs that C.A.G.E.M.A.F.I.A. use as "open-source" without them having to provide the data (incl. art, journalism, books and whatever other content was used to train the system).
This is bad. It's bad for not only everyone in software freedom but EVERYONE who produces content.... and by that I mean EVERYONE.
The #microsoft cronies perpetuating #theft and #fraud at OSI need to repeal their demented #OSAID definition immediately, if they want to maintain any shred of respect for #opensource.
PLEASE BOOST, even if to preserve the definition of the word, #open. Thanks

As for the #OSAID, it could have required something like the #CDLA (Community Data License Agreement) by the #LinuxFoundation for the AI/ML/LLM training data, or started establishing equivalency classes like it did for programming language source code licensing.
That it didn't, and doesn't even recommend it, is ... disappointing, and falls short of even the open-washing it did for less protective licenses in the past.
