Turbo pet peeve at work is when a customer acts wayyy too familiar. It’s fine if I see you several times a week, or hell! Even once a week! Just some kind of regularity. But I *just* met this dude today and he’s all “where did ya go? I needed a drink and you’re on break!” Like dude idk you like that. Also he needed attention from either me or the other bartender constantly. We got other customers man, don’t worry I’ll be over to listen to your life story after I clear service bar.

Just got done work and after tip out I’m walking with ~$130. My first thought was “oh man killer night!, best I’ve had in a while!” And then my second thought was how sad that < $150 is my current definition of a “killer night.” Oh well. It’s only for the summer and then we rebid our shifts

yes yes of course my grave shift last night when I didn’t bring a book it was dead. I prepared tonight, brought a book. And judging by the casino floor, it’s gonna be a busy night. (I don’t wanna get in the habit of complaint about being busy [i.e. making $$] at work, but I was looking forward to reading some Howard Zinn)

So when I got a job in (read: near) the town I just moved to, that’s when I gave myself permission to quit my old shitty job and actually move. Which is good! And I’ve got another job lined up, which I’m very grateful for. So I’m just at this (first) job till I get started at the second one. I’m very lucky!
BUT
This “bridge” job is turning out to be utter bullshit. There are just so many things that suck, I’m texting my gf and she’s like “just walk out!” and I’m very tempted to take her advice

one of the worst parts of working in restaurants is having to always be socially available for customers. I’m having a VERY bad night emotionally so I texted my girlfriend, and she’s texting me comforting responses because she is amazing. I can feel my phone going off in my pocket, but I can’t read them because I have to pretend to care about where this couple is sending their kid to school. I *could* blow them off, but I’m broke (hence the bad feelings) so I have to “play the role” to get the best tip I can.
