Hey #Boston, #Cambridge, #Somerville #neurodivergent, #ADHD and those dealing with #ExecutiveDysfunction! I'm doing a thing next Sunday! Body Doubling and Support Group! Cambridge Public Library! 10:00 AM Sunday May 26th!
Having a hard time focusing? Burnt out? Or do you have all your shit together and want to help the rest of us figure ours out? Looking for that support group that doesn't exist because it would need folks with executive dysfunction to organize it? (Ha. Haha. Ha ha HAHAHAHA) Then come down to the Cambridge Public Library, this Sunday (05-19) at 1:00 PM and we'll meet in the front lawn and figure out what we all need and how we can support each other and build accountability. I don't want to scare folks off by giving prep-work, but please come with something to write or take notes with, physical or digital is fine, and 3-5 goals you would like to work on with the help of a group or a partner. To give you an idea of what I am talking about, here are mine:
1)Job hunt!
2)Learn HTML/CSS/website building!
3)Photo cataloguing!
4)Studying for career training!
5)Woodworking!
If this Sunday doesn't work for you, PLEASE let me know in the comments and we'll try to get a better time for session 3 that can include more folks (My #ServiceIndustry #FellowWorkers I'm looking at you).

Tipping in the US is broken. You're expected to pay up in order to save face, or know whether or not the state you happen to be in has sub-minimum wages and how "sub" they are.
Just pay people a proper wage and leave tipping for service you think was worth tipping for!

@Walker For as long as I have been going there, the operator does multiple laps in a band around the outside. That's where everyone skates, and the ice gets really chewed up. The center sees very little use.
He's not lazy, stupid, incompetent and an alcoholic, etc. You're an #classist #techbro who thinks that because he's good with computers and makes a bunch of money, he knows more than blue collar workers.

Just got done work and after tip out I’m walking with ~$130. My first thought was “oh man killer night!, best I’ve had in a while!” And then my second thought was how sad that < $150 is my current definition of a “killer night.” Oh well. It’s only for the summer and then we rebid our shifts

Are there #studies or #papers or #communities relating to service industry employees who are unable to return to former jobs due to #longcovid symptoms? I'm wondering how those of us who were living paycheck to paycheck on our feet full time in busy kitchens (for example, bc that was me) are faring having to navigate job boards and benefits labyrinths through brain fog, fatigue, migraines and other symptoms while fielding unhelpful advice from people who think we are faking it.

So when I got a job in (read: near) the town I just moved to, that’s when I gave myself permission to quit my old shitty job and actually move. Which is good! And I’ve got another job lined up, which I’m very grateful for. So I’m just at this (first) job till I get started at the second one. I’m very lucky!
BUT
This “bridge” job is turning out to be utter bullshit. There are just so many things that suck, I’m texting my gf and she’s like “just walk out!” and I’m very tempted to take her advice
