Picked up Simple Quest by #D101Games in print finally. Been meaning to do that for a bit. I love the digest size, and #OpenQuest even boiled down has a lot to like. #ttrpg #rpg #DriveThruRPG #NotDnD #BasicRoleplaying -
Running an online convention for #OpenQuest, weekend of the 8th/9th July.
Registration for OpenQuest Online 2023 now open.

Finally getting into my groove with this and currently heads down finishing it. It's been a difficult project because I spend a lot of time trying to differentiate #OpenQuest from being just another fantasy game based off #DnD 🤣
Here's a blog post about it https://openquestrpg.com/2023/06/20/what-openquest-dungeons-sets-out-to-do/

Nothing too exciting to show today graphically. But I've decided to drop the idea of building my own RPG system on top of trying to code my own game. 🙂
So I've decided to use aspects from the #OpenQuest RPG system using the SRD available online, as designed by the amazing @Newt_Newport
Right now all characteristics map correctly onto the characters and I've got a great toolkit to build from!

A great game with the #OpenQuest Thursday crew last night. Everyone was a bit tired from three months or so of work since Christmas, so I didn't push the plot. Instead interesting cultural discussions with an Orc Wise with an living severed head were had, and the encounter was resolved using magic instead of axes. Thanks to my players for a chill and fun game @TheTweedmeister ,Ian, Neil and Matt.

This morning has been about sending, backers copies of #RebootTheFuture, and receiving, the proof of @TheTweedmeister It Will Not Always be Summer (an #OpenQuest adventure set in Ancient Rome)

Spending the weekend putting the final polish on the next book for #OpenQuest, OpenQuest Dungeons.
This one has been done in bits and pieces. It almost had conflicting design goals at time. On the one hand, it's a book of advice on how to get D&D familiar players and GMs converted to the joys of D100. It's a resource book of things to help the GM make this shift. Finally, it's a set of three adventures that were initially unconnected but now have a common setting and form a mini-campaign.

@Wyrdwyzard @Newt_Newport @FortiterGames Agreed. I didn't mean to slight #OpenQuest. OpenQuest and #BRP have different purposes.
-
@rwhe @Wyrdwyzard @FortiterGames At the risk of sounding defensive, the two books are very different approaches.
BGB is a rules compendium pulled from BRP games prior to CoC 7th (and doesn't include and adventure :P)
#OpenQuest is a complete and comprehensive fantasy game, and as well as being a modern take on D100 includes comprehensive GMs advice, a full bestiary, an example setting and an adventure. Oh and its 256 pages long.

Spring has sprung, and the Phoenix has arisen!
Oh, I don't care that we are having an icy couple of days, that I've got two rooms of crap to sort out in the house today, and a ton of D101 Work to do. Nothing seems to be dulling my enthusiasm for life at the moment :)
Besides, it's #OpenQuest Thursday tonight.
Game ON!

@Wyrdwyzard @FortiterGames @Newt_Newport
I agree. The #BRP Big Gold Book is worthwhile for browsing and reference, and even more for playing. It's 400 pages, so has a lot more material than, say, #openquest

I was in reflective mood this morning so over coffee I wrote about #RiverOfHeaven our sci-fi game powered by #OpenQuest

This morning I'm revisiting @ottomancer's River of Heaven RPG, which is a sci-fi game powered by #OpenQuest.

I'm composing a post for my To The Stars blog (which itself is the name of the RoH companion), which I'll link to later.
I always forget it has a soundtrack by my mate Keef Baker put out under his Slipdrive moniker.

It's #OpenQuest Thursday tonight. The Imperial Bannermen are deep in the Ancient Dark Wood, fighting creatures from the Old Faith. It's all very WFRP 1st ed. Outwitting and then splitting in twain Elf Archers up in a tree, then fighting a whole patch of Pumpkin-Headed demons. Whilst no limbs were lost, characters had to grit their teeth and came out in a sweat to overcome their foes.
Really having fun with this one. Thanks to Ian, Neil, Matt and @TheTweedmeister

As part of my half-term get-away, I'm having a bit of a life review. Today it's what I do as D101 Games. Good news is that there's very little pruning to be done. More restructuring and reorganisation. The OGL fiasco has actually made us working in the Class/Level space alot more viable, as well as the d100 space (which was already positive and growing due to the release of #OpenQuest 3rd edition) . Only thing that needs a hard think about is D101s nonexistant convention attendance.

Had an ace game of #OpenQuest, with the OpenQuest Thursday gang. The trail of a bloody murderer was followed until it ran out. Then a trip to an ancient town, whose inhabitants are barely in the Empire and whose priest had been killed and nailed to his shrine door. The characters have an idea of who is responsible for this mayhem and are out for blood.
Thanks to Ian, Neil and @TheTweedmeister (who got his hat on) for a maximum fun game.

Today is a day of finishing things. Getting #SimpleQuest (concise younger sibling of #OpenQuest), and #RebootTheFuture off to the printers. Needs doing,and the achievement will lift me out of impending Winter "meh" :D

Is your usual game a version of D20 Class/Level fantasy, and you are curious about D100 systems like OpenQuest? If so, this post is for you.
