I've been looking around at generic and also grounded and simulationist #ttrpg systems recently - though I'm kind of tired with #gurps 4e being so unreadable (I played a lot of 3e but I'm no longer up to speed and the 4e books are basically reference manuals).
I don't like the modern idea that you need a whole new game for every genre/setting you want to run. I'm not "system doesn't matter" but I _am_ "system doesn't matter as much as people think it does". By now I know what gameplay styles I like, and that's where system makes a difference.
Anyway I bought a copy of the latest #BRP (Basic Role-Playing: Universal Game Engine) and tbqh that also has organisational flaws but nowhere near on the same level. Also, effectively the whole thing is under the ORC licence - for instance there's a repo in markdown format of it here https://github.com/raleel/brpugesrd and I find markdown versions very useful for use with Obsidian. So that's a definite possibility.

Another Fading Suns session in the can. I was a bit unsure where the game would go, but decided to prep for the bigger campaign goal. Lucky me, they decided to pick it up again!
Once more they found themselves targeted by powerful foes, the Avestite order. It's not really by design, but they have become the recurring bogeymen of the game.
A duel turned into a firefight with snipers. One poor guy was hit with over 35 HP!
Now sirens can be heard in the distance.

Mmmhh Elric kommt zurück als #Rollenspiel. Ich mag den Hintergrund ja, aber ich bin weder ein Fan von 5e noch von #DCC. Bei mir im Regal steht #Stormbringer und #Elric mit den #BRP Regeln. Da brauch ich diese Edition nicht. #pnpde

We played #CoC again yesterday: I think the core rules of #BRP are brilliant, but the details less so; 7e is too bloated for my taste. Playing styles / ideals differ immensely; I prefer more traction, more sense of urgency, etc., while others love to go round in circles & #roleplay for hours. #ttrpg

I've had my eye on this one for a while, so today when I visited the Scifi bookstore in #Stockholm, I could clearly hear it calling to me. It's not that I want to play it, but it's interesting from a #TTRPG design and historical perspective, especially since it's the root of Drakar och Demoner (Dragonbane) which was my introduction into the TTRPG world back in the 80's.
