The last entry of a repost activity for OCtober! This story has changed a bit since I last wrote the entry below. I actually tried to do a thing through Patreon for it, seeing if people wanted it to be my second project, my pitch or something of an exclusive Patreon comic (and then posting it later.)
This would have required interest in my Patreon AND my work, mind you and of course, it went nowhere despite having two-three folks kindly patroning (?) me. No votes or even a comment lol. Barely a care unless I give away it for free...

(in order of image) Vik, Lucas and Grace :ai_wave:Grace Rexach, obviously the title character, is the detective in question. She has her own “office” in a building whose ownership is murky – but nothing bad seems to happen, as evidenced by the amount of people who don’t mind coming to her for her cases. After all, who isn’t fascinated by a perpetually and seemingly cheery woman who only dresses in black-and-white, has natural platinum-blonde-veering-on-white hair, and has an intellect that makes you wonder if she’s for real? Oh and she drives a totally far-out! car from Oldsville, man. Also black. There’s a theme here…
Grace is the one who ends up bringing people together in her world, people who wouldn’t even be in the same bar; from an era of solitude to an era where Vik’s motley group of friends visiting her constantly –either to hang out or to help her– she finds herself being surrounded by the same images and people she’s always seen on TV. Is it her natural charm or just the fact that she’s willing to talk to anyone?
Speaking of Vik and her friends, these young Punks is one of those: the ones who loiter around the place and do jack scratch because there’s nothing else for them in life. No prospects, no skills that people want –and to boot, she would find the same despair on the Rez*. Yet in Grace, there seems to emerge a purpose, a reason for being. Her smarts are used in Grace’s job/cases accordingly, and even though she’s opinionated about life and certain types of authority, if it’s Grace who asks, she’ll do it. Her friends are the same, though not as intense about it in the long run.
Unfortunately for Lucas, he’s the one against whom Vik butts head all the time. He’s soft-spoken from a family of people who’ve worked in law in some way – and as such, he’s serious and stressed about things much of the time. He just wants to do a good job and become a good cop or whatever his old-school father wants. It is with Grace he finds a ground to stand on in the beginning, becoming essentially her Watson. (Or is it Vik who’s her Watson? Hmmm.)

:ai_wave: Lady Orkidya and Lady Clavelle :ai_wave:
Knights of the Orchid and Carnations respectively, these two sometimes get along pretty well but usually aren’t a normal Pair of Friends[TM]. Orkidya is much more active than Clavelle for one, and prefers more typical ‘masculine’ activities; she’s in charge of the horse stables just to note one of her duties. Clavelle on the other hand likes tranquility – tea hobbies, taking care of gardens, walking, etc. Each one has their preferred person to share these things with, and each one is not the other’s first choice XD
But Clavelle tries her best to come out of her shell and this is one of those times! Orkidya ain’t havin’ it, though.
Up above you’ll see Clavelle’s hair is blonde-ish; she’s actually albino, and that’s one of my old studies to see how coloring her “pre-Knighthood” works. I disagree with the coloring style used for albino characters’ skin because they look dead. (Grey shading, eww.) I figured out how to draw extremely pale skin recently however, so I’ll be using that as a basis next time I do another study. Her real ethnicity is a secret until comictime c: Orkidya’s name suggests hers, however.

I share this precious woman with the equally precious Aeraellyth! This is from a horror story we are both writing and drawing; originally for an anthology project, while we were rejected, we decided to still go ahead with it because we feel the story is fascinating and deserves to be told <3
We’re also meanies who decided to not say much because a huge chunk of the story’s entrenched in mythology and dreams and symbolism and snaaaaaakes. In fact this drawing is composed of symbolism! Symbolism everywhere ahahahahahaha *slapped into sense again* But a lot of the story loses a lot of its impact if we divulge too much about it (does that makes us good writers or what? ;D)

:ai_wave: Detectives Saf Minga and Gouk Treye from "Ronda Onda" :ai_wave:
Recent characters given the last two’s mileage, but this is another one I love to make more short comics for. I fell hard in love with these two partners by the end of making this comic – to the point where I am certainly close to making Ronda Onda shorts, haha. (So redundancy much?)
It’s basically a detective story in the not-near-you future, where, in the case of the comic posted above, they’re investigating a robotic hybrid crime. Saf’s the more serious-minded of the two (as well as harboring a secret or two), but Gouk simply likes to tease his partner, lightening the mood most times. But they’re both dedicated in many ways, even with most of the police department making fun of Saf over silly details like surnames.
Gouk’s supposed to be eating a little snack XD Saf’s just mad he probably was eating it instead of being attentive or something.

Oh maaannn. This is the short story that I’d love to go back and redo it again with more page counts, but also the only one that currently makes me cringe. I had bought Manga Studio for the first time when I was drawing it for TOKYOPOP’s Rising Stars of Manga contest (before I knew better, yikes!) and well, it’s where you can tell I was still trying to figure out how to draw in the dang program 8| Look at those faces, yee…
The story’s a bit “oh” in that embarrassing way, since it’s about an interfaith couple in World War II Germany. Hah. Hahahahahaha. I’m a sucker for those kinds of stories but in hindsight, even with all the research I did, it still reads weird and possibly preachy. At least I didn’t glorify anything like most romances in this setting do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But yes, they met and got interested in each other because of books. They have the same tastes in common :) That’s partially why I’d like to come back to it; I’d like to build up on that a lot more.
