  3. So far my workation to #SantaCruz goes great. #NextSpace turned out to be a very cool coworking with super interesting people. Also that place has its own story, definitely recommend to check it out.
I did 2 weeks of procrastination in 4 hours and am really proud of it.
Now it’s time to have a meal and then check in to the hotel.

  4. Recently I installed NEXTSPACE on my computer, a NeXTSTEP-like desktop environment for Linux. I've been loving every second of it!

I also started looking into making applications using their frameworks and it reminded me a lot of SmallTalk! Built this silly BMI calculator while learning the basics.

  7. @tylerburton Well, I‘m still using @objfw and mainly so I don‘t really know first hand. I think Base/Foundation still is used for production to port some apps to Android. Regarding /#AppKit @mos_8502 created some patches to make it more look like some kind of Mac OS X. And before war in Ukraine trunkmaster applied some patches for better multi display support for .

  9. @mos_8502 yes, sounds wise. sometimes I woke up and thought „uh, today I‘m gonna make look like Mac OS X“, but I never did 😉

  11. @anthk Well, that is the job of a distribution. If you try to do that you are going to stumble about the issue that and are not a complete DE. So you end up pulling in stuff from or start building .

  12. @ademalsasa @gugurumbe I think there was a GNUstep release for evaluating it, but @probono dropped it in favour of Qt tech. So helloSystem is not about *step or now.

If you want to get closer to that look at (darlinghq.org) or (airyx.org) or (trunkmaster.github.io).

  14. @mos_8502 Thank you for your post! I really like and its concepts. The biggest challenge I see regarding you idea is the current state of GNUstep. It barely is the thin application layer / Yellow / Blue Box was meant to be, which later became Cocoa. Fixing it to work like intended already is a huge task. Making a desktop environment out of it (projects like or try) are even bigger ones.
