I don't really enjoy having to join yarn as regularly as you do in nalbinding, and there's only so much you can cram into the needle eye before it gets too fat to pull through the stitches. But I like the texture.

Oslo stitch, center out. Yarn held double because I don't have anything bulky.

I'm aware that this probably isn't the best needle for this - I keep splitting stitches, and it's too tempting to tighten the stitches down too much - but I think this will be a nice little project bag. Hoping for something just big enough to fit a ball of yarn or two in. And the denseness of my stitching just makes it more sturdy lol

Went to the Midwest Fiber Festival last weekend, tried Nalbinding for the first time in a 3 hour class.
Came home and cast on for a lace scarf with new yarn, and, after 5 years of stalling, started a video class in indirect warping for my loom. It's a way to get long warps without needing the space for a direct warp and lengths of yarn that cats love to mess with.

so i learned that the nalbinding stitch that i use worked flat gives me a very similar space as garter stitch, but wider? and with one row instead of two.
the sample here is increased 2 stitches at the pink markers and decreased 2 stitches at the blue markers without a "knit all" row in between as the single needle knotted stitch seems to incorporate it.
when i tried it with the extra full row, the mitered bits were not as sharply defined, so i'm going to see what happens by making an EZ Surprise Scarf with this method and seeing how the stripes work out. then it's casting on a Surprise Jacket time!

Been curious how a nalbound bag would go, and a few weeks ago I was gifted the perfect yarn to play with. Turned out great, I think! The shoulder strap and white stripes are… appliqué? Made post-facto but attached as they were made.
Don’t know all the vocab- Finnish 2+2. Most connections were F1. Connection loops for the stripes/strap were picked up after the +2 of the stitch but before the stitch was finished. #HandMade #FiberArts #StringCraft #Nalbinding #Wool #Mastoart -
As for my #nalbinding attempt, I actually got reasonably good at the one basic stitch (Oslo Stitch I think.) I made a pair of fingerless mittens and a hat (of sorts). The green wool came from my Nalbinding for Beginners kit sold by Emma 'Bruni' Boast at Jorvik Festival 2019.
The first mitten took months of trial & unravel iterations - you can see the left one is poor down by the cuff and slowly improves, while the right one is more uniform.
I think the right mitten took 2 weeks and the hat 8! -
Went to #Iceland in 2019, and bought a pair of woolen socks from a tiny craft stall in the #Vestfjörður. After a few years they wore out. Being knitted, not nålbinded they started to unravel. I finally got around to making my 1st repair attempt today with some WYS wool I had bought for my #nalbinding. I'm hoping that using the pure wool will allow the repairs to felt together over time. It's probably obvious, but the left one is the 1st attempt.

I learned to crochet and knit while in school (age 7, 8) and I restarted doing these crafts about 8 yrs ago. I love trying out new crafts such as #spinning and #nalbinding.A few yrs ago I started a volunteer social group to make hats, scarves etc for those who need them (https://tricoteusesamsterdam.wordpress.com/), and I initiated a Ravelry group making hats for the men at sea with a group of German knitters.
