December 2025: cross stitch bookmark
It’s a fishing village. Or a dog sat on a dining chair / giraffe (according to Mr. CP 🐶🦒)
That’s it! 2025 is nearly done. 2026, see you shortly. And of course, new year = new craft!!

November 2025: tree
This is my painting of the tree we scattered my grandad’s ashes near this summer. Gifted to my Dad this Christmas.
-
October 2025: sheep with glowing eyes.
Bit of a slow month creativity wise (lots on at work and at home). All I really managed was to make a little circuit with a PIR sensor in it so the sheep’s eyes glowed red when trick-or-treaters came to the door.

June 2025: turned those HSTs into a quilt.
-
May 2025: half square triangles.
I have avoided them of many years (not sure why) but I make a block out of HST.
-
April 2025: Dackel
Made from my old wool coat that had seen too many winters.
-
March 2025: finished the cross stitch sampler. I designed it to be autobiographical and if you know me, it makes sense. If you don’t, it doesn’t!
Still haven’t framed it…

February 2025 - Ned the crocheted bunny.
Ned was my protest about generative AI and related Shizzle.
Ned is AI free and one of a kind.

Darn! Missed January yesterday (had family visiting and it completely slipped my mind!)
January 2025 - a small crocheted fox(?). Not sure what it is tbh - just a yarn doodle really.

I’m going to be going through my creative year again soon!
Starting 20th Dec, I’ll be posting about something creative I did in January, on the 21st it’ll be about something I made in February and so on until 31st which will be about something I made in December!
It’s a nice opportunity to reflect on the year, by looking through pictures or notes of what you’ve created.
Please feel free to do it too - #MyCreativeYear 😊

#MyCreativeYear - December
Winter, time for coats and jackets.
I've done one (mostly, the buttons still need sewing on) and a second one is about 2/3 finished. Both on (for me) really thick needles.
I'm thinking about writing out the pattern, but I'm struggling with sizing, especially inclusive sizing. But so far I'm pleased with the outcome, the style works well with the very rustic yarn and I learned a few new things about making a collar.

#MyCreativeYear - Day 12 / December
Ended 2023 with a flurry — two more longtime UFOs and a couple of “just felt like playing around in the sewing room” projects
I don’t know how I feel about the past year creatively. It’s obvious I made a lot, but there’s always a feeling of should’ve /could’ve done more. I’d like to find a way to minimize that feeling in 2024
Thx again to @CurlyParakeet for suggesting this EOY review
And warmest wishes for a happy and creative new year to all!

Day 12 - December. That’s it! End of the year!
Finished up 2023 with a cardigan for Littlest (chenille hides many mistakes). I also bought myself a bead loom for Christmas and made a bookmark (wide photo) and a bracelet.
I hope 2023 has been kind to you and that you have an amazing 2024.

#MyCreativeYear - Day 11 / November
Piecing on the GOTV quilt top that filled my days in October continued right up until the election, but then I got to play around with some ideas that had been on my to-do list for years — really made me feel like I was accomplishing something as 2023 started drawing to a close

#MyCreativeYear - November
Socks galore.
My mother has been #knitting socks all life, just like my grandmother. The latter one taught me how to knit them originally.
Now my mom is too ill to knit, but a few neighbors have helped her a lot since she got sick. Socks were what my mom used to give them for years so I took up that mantle this year. With fun yarn it wasn't a chore.

November - nearly at the end of the year!
It was a cross stitch kind of month. Made a little 2023 sampler and a cryptic cross stitch (which nobody has decoded… ☹️).

#MyCreativeYear - Day 10 / October
This entire month was researching languages, drafting letters, and piecing blocks for a Get Out The Vote (GOTV) themed quilt. I did not expect this project to take as long as it did — it stretched into November! — but it was totally worth it

#mycreativeyear - October
Good news, one member of our knitting group is going to have a baby in a little while. We are knitting little patches, they're going to be joined together during our regular meetings and then some of them will get a little crochet applique - a mushroom, a star, a lion head, funny little things. A fun baby blanket.
Those are my contribution.

Day 10 - October.
Copper wire trees! Loved making these. They’re made from old charger cables and seed beads.

#MyCreativeYear - Day 9 / September
I was back to a lot of piecing (improv Medusa) and a little bit of machine appliqué (the solar system) once summer ended

#mycreativeyear - September
Sock #knitting season starts in the fall. This year I've made quite a number of socks, mostly gifts to various people.
These were for my daughter, made from a pure merino yarn. So probably more sofa socks than boot socks. But they're very soft and comfy, so I achieved what I set out to do.

September:
Completed my first crocheted garment. It’s not the most elegant thing, but it fits.
Also finished a little clock tower miniature complete with working mechanism I found on eBay!

#MyCreativeYear - Day 8 / August
My push to long arm quilt as many quilts as possible over the summer of 2023 continued into August with three more finishes
I remember the nap and dragon quilts as causing me huge amounts of trouble and the hexie, which was just a utility quilt, being relatively fast and problem-free 🤷♀️ I never know what’s going to happen when a quilt goes on the long arm
-
#mycreativeyear - August, summer, perfect time for linen yarn.
One top (mostly) finished, a lot of experimenting and another one started.
-
On to August.
I got myself a Dremel and made a little dish thing. First go at, and I was happy. More will be done when the weather clears up!
Also made some paper beads out of old science journals.
-
#mycreativeyear - July
A month of experiments and starting projects, nothing really got finished.
First two pictures are from summer tops, the last is from a pair of socks. The tops where finished later that summer, the socks I'm working on right now - they will probably be the last project finished this year. Maybe.

Two-fer for #MyCreativeYear since yesterday was a holiday
Day 6-7 / June-July
Starting this month and continuing #AllSummerLong(Arm) I was focused on longarm quilting a bunch of quilts in one fell swoop…
