@ShutterRatata great photo.#Robins (#Erithacus #rubecula, #Muscicapidae) are endearing to us, partly due to their short #flightdistance. Combined with their attractive #appearance, they evoke positive associations in us. Therefore, they e.g. play a role in #culturaltraditions (Christian legends). They have twice been #BirdoftheYear in Germany. In 1963, robins were the first animal, in which the presence of a #magneticsense (#orientation via Earth's #magneticfield) was proven. Text: S.F.Wirth

A near-complete and time-calibrated #phylogeny of the Old World flycatchers, robins and chats (Aves, Muscicapidae) https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1055790322002597
#Muscicapidae #birds, widely distributed in various habitats across the entire Old World and adjacent #Australasia and #Nearctic, are a great study group to address various questions on #evolution, #biodiversity and #biogeography.

Greeted at the start of a walk around Pasir Ris Park, Singapore, on 16 Feb 2019 by this Oriental Magpie-Robin (Copsychus saularis). It wasn't bothered by me standing a few metres from it taking shots. It was more interested in looking for something to eat.
Local Status: Uncommon resident

Two Oriental Magpie-Robins (Copsychus saularis) spotted at Fraser's Hill, Malaysia, on 21 Nov 2018. The first one is a juvenile (lighter coloured breast feathers and shorter tail) while the other is an adult male (darker coloured feathers).
The male seems to be giving me a quizzical look in the last shot. :-)
