@lambert> shouldn't we all be more forgiving to #Firefox as the last "other option" in a browser monoculture?
Forgiving to an organisation building that browser? Yes. But #MozillaCorp has long ago ceased being that organisation, they are now nakedly user-hostile and wantonly trashing whatever good will #Firefox has.

I am really rooting for #Ladybird browser to be ready so I can jump ship.
Mozilla has clearly lost their vision of being a non-privacy invasive, truly free and open web browser. Their re-wording of the T&C doesn’t mean shit if your identity and ideology has changed.
If I had my way at Mozilla, I would:
1. Close for-profit organisation, kick out the C-suites, hand over any and all power back to the non-profit organisation.
2. CEO is getting a HUGE pay cut. (quit if you are unhappy)
3. Sell the ad company to recoup the costs (might not make a profit)
4. Make sure to restructure the organisation without layoffs (or keep them to a bare minimum).
5. Google money would have to stay (for the next few years) unfortunately until we figure out where to invest/pull out money from.A man can dream 🙃
Thunderbird would still be with us (Love you @thunderbird) though.

The #Debian project packages #Firefox as 'firefox-esr'.
(Please don't offer speculation, I'm asking for substantiated information) Will that package continue to package a #FreeSoftware Firefox browser, as it does today? How?
The odious "terms of use" that #MozillaCorp intends to erect as a barrier to #SoftwareFreedom, is incompatible with the DFSG. How will this be resolved? Cease to package Firefox in Debian? Strip any imposed barrier and continue the free Firefox package? Or what?

@bignose @mozillaofficial That is a good path for activism. Let's compost the #techshit changing the leadership of #mozillaCorp would be useful and needed action on this path.

Whether or not the #Firefox obnoxious "Terms of Use" actually come into effect, the @mozillaofficial corporate management have shown us their arses. We cannot trust them again.
The current leadership of #MozillaCorp have failed the primary job of that organisation:
* Be a champion for #SoftwareFreedom, #UserFreedom, and #Privacy on the #OpenWeb.
* Maintain and promote the excellent, #StandardsCompliant, reference web browser for everyone.
* That's all.Workers, boot the leadership out.

And there it is: @[email protected] loses its Advocacy division, and the #OpenWeb loses what was once a champion.
“We’re revisiting how we pursue that work, not stopping it” says the Mozilla Foundation. Oh yeah, laying off workers is “revisiting” how to do the work, all right.
#MozillaCorp is nakedly a profit-seeking #SurveillanceCapitalism promotional body today.

@jwz puts it bluntly:
“They've decided who their customers are, and it's not you, it's people who build and invest in #surveillance advertising networks. But in a "respectful" way.”

@[email protected], you *must* change #MozillaCorp leadership. They are selling out the entire user base, to the #surveillance #ArtificialStupidity #grift.
> Anonym is building technology that can provide more privacy-preserving infrastructure for data sharing between advertisers and publishers.
Bullshit. Stop handing your users to surveillance creeps.
