Should've been 10" 12U not-so-mini rack but 12U and 15U were out of stock...oh well 18U it is. Now even NAS and UPS (kinda) fits 🎉

My FreeCAD experience the last 2 days was very frustrating.
I made the design parametric with variables, only using the default axis and planes as references.
But fillets, oh boy, they destroy everything, when you change variables.Anyway, got a decent power supply mount for my 10 inch #minirack
I uploaded the file to Gemini and Claude when I was stuck and asked questions.
That actually helped sometimes! -
I don't want a bunch of adapters plugged into wall sockets, I want a USB-C PD PDU. Something that I can mount in a 19" or 10" rack and have one plug to a UPS.

So I come to the fediverse, do you know of anyone that sells something like this? Or something close?

Diy 10“ rack brackets / kit
Why buy it, if you can diy (3D cad + jlccnc) it for a multiple of the costs?!
And you only have to sink a few hours of your time!Ran out of cage-nuts, but actually pretty pleased with my first sheetmetal-designs (ordered via jlccnc) ever.
(Needed the custom blindpanel-thingys as my shelfs are actually 10“ wide and not the more common 9,5“)

Finished cleaning up the cabling and getting the Beelink properly installed in the minirack. Overall, I miss the Pis because they looked pretty cool, but I'm not gonna complain: this looks pretty good as well.
The doggo wasn't quite as impressed.

E-Mail is kinda fun.
I've now two pis running mail servers in my #minirack and can send mails between them.

My humble #homelab is complete (for tonight)
200mm Noctua exhaust fans are plugged into USB ports. Each cabinet has some open sophets at the toe area to let cooler air in.
Left cabinet houses a #geekpi #minirack. Three lenovo sff PCs run my proxmox cluster.
Right cabinet houses my networking, ups, NAS, and the TV stuff (Wii, #steamlink, Amazon tv).
Really happy how it all came out.

Small warning about the #DeskPi DC PDU. While this is a useful device, read the manual carefully. It can handle up to 8 Amp total, but only 3A per Output and has a significant voltage drop above that (fuse reacts at 5A).
I just accidentally ran my NAS with 10,3V on the 12V line because of that (PicoPSU) and it had interesting effects. #homelab #minirack -
This should be the last minirack post for awhile as it's 99.9% finished. It was a very fun build, and it's a heluva-lot quieter than what it replaced. I did lose network bandwidth, but the new cluster does exactly what it's supposed to. Live migrations are fast enough, iSCSI network means that the VMs are snappy storage-wise. The PiKVM + Switch fits perfectly in the basement.
The dual fans fixed the issue of the top Minisforum MS-A2 baking from the heat of the RPis, and the QNAP switch is a beast. I definitely recommend building in a minirack as they're adorable and very, very capable.

Got the fan grills in which significantly lowers the chances of me putting a finger or cable into one of the rear ventilation fans which totally hasn't happened.

Cable management done, there are only a couple of minor things left. I moved the power bricks to the rear of the rack instead of them being run through the front of the case. Also cleaned up the PiKVM cables in the basement as well. For now, I'm gonna just let it be as it's quiet and running well...doesn't hurt that it looks good as well.
