Zinc from Sphalerite is also important to historians of art. Using non-invasive imaging techniques, researchers compared and contrasted two oval Rembrandt paintings and showed that one had been touched up in more recent centuries due in part to a zinc-rich pigment in some places, not used in his day.

Anthorite can be found in lunar & cometary rocks, but Sphalerite gets my vote with cool optical/electrical properties & its role in art history as main zinc ore. While beautiful and beloved, weathering product #Erythrite didn’t quite make it.

Pour etre exact il existe une continuité de composition entre l'anorthite et l'albite (un autre plagioclase) et la labradorite est sur ce spectre, plus proche de l'anorthite que de l'albite.

Skudderudite almost had me with this little factoid from Wiki: "The arsenic content gives a garlic odor when heated or crushed."
But erythrite's coloring is similar enough to rhodochrosite (my son's favorite) to get my vote this time!

Dolly Parton vs Tim Curry. What a dilemma!! Skudderudite is a cobalt ore that can transform to the secondary mineral erythrite. While S has more uses, look at these cool scarlet E crystals (on S). Erythrite can be delicate and pink like Dolly or darker like Tim Curry. #TeamErythrite #MinCup26
