Hiya, one of the local disableds here.
While you're celebrating #Menulog closing down, spare a thought for us: Woolies and Coles delivery is getting less reliable (at least where I am) and platforms like Doordash give me access to Aldi as well as ways to fix my weekly groceries when the orders are (very) wrong.

I have never had a good experience with Uber Eats, they can never find the place and they give up and chuck it in a ditch somewhere. As weird as it sounds I’ve had a lot of good nights on the back of Menulog. I hope everyone employed and contracting with them find good employment.

Menulog in Australia to be closing down coming soon in November, due to "challenging circumstances", perhaps because of their shady operations with partnering with restaurants and such in the past, some restaurants and shops were listed on Menulog without their knowledge, but they'd get customer orders through them, and adding weird promotions that causes those businesses to lose money in the process.

Lost a few orders to drivers who drove off & stole my food with them, then calling 'menulog support' and getting an umm'ing & ahh'ing & sighing little brat on the other end like I've just asked some tween to clean their room...

I refused to use Menulog after it saturated SBS's streaming platform with its inane ads a few years ago. I *loathe* the badly-placed repetitive ads on SBS On Demand, and like to mount resistance.

I suggest that if you’re a #Menulog customer you contact them and request that they delete all of your personal information from all operational and marketing databases that they may have stored your information in (including any run by sub-processors). if they baulk, you might mention the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) & see if that helps (it probably won’t but ¯_(ツ)_/¯)
especially if you’ve ever purchased alcohol that they’ve delivered if they made you let them scan or photograph your drivers license – be explicit about instructing them to delete that scan / photograph from their systems (including any run by sub-processors)

welp, #Menulog is shutting down in #Australia with only 2 weeks’ notice – so if you have any vouchers or credits use ’em or lose ’em by Wednesday 26th November
there’s no prominent announcement about this on the Australian Menulog home page – or on their website at all – which you would think should be the bare minimum, hey? ¯_(ツ)_/¯
but if you go digging through their “Newsroom” section you eventually find an article on the US site of Just Eat Takeaway.com, which presumably owns Menulog:

and that article includes a link at the end asking you to “visit our Australian newsroom for more information” (as you’d imagine, there’s not actually much more information – and also, shouldn’t the “Newsroom” link on your Australian site link to the Australian version of your “Newsroom“ in the first place…? 🤪 🤡🤡🤡)

Menulog to close in Australia
Dear XXXXX,
Unfortunately, today we announced Menulog will no longer operate in Australia, from midnight Wednesday 26 November 2025.
As the only Australian-born platform, Menulog has a proud history but ultimately, as a business we have been navigating challenging circumstances and the decision was made to close local operations.
Please be advised that our website and app will remain operational until 23:59 AEDT Wednesday 26 November, but will not be accepting orders after this date.
Unused vouchers and credits
Menulog will honour any unused account credits or vouchers over the next two weeks. If you have any questions about using your voucher or account credit, our team is here to help - just reach out to us anytime.
Finally, we would like to sincerely thank you for your support over almost 20 years.

People who order things on #DoorDash, #UberEats, #MenuLog and the like, do you try to take into account how far the place you're ordering from is? I don't want the delivery driver to have to drive ages away just because I live in a shit part of town.
(I also notice how hard these platforms try to downplay distance)

Menulog delivery driver owning the number 0402 821 383 needs to be fired.
Because I cannot come downstairs to receive orders, and state this on the order, and because he said to me in the phone call questioning me about it that it was too difficult to find parking, he marked my order as delivered, but did not even leave it outside the building.
Of course I have made an official complaint with Menulog. 90mins later, I have still not eaten. So angry right now.
I worked for years in customer service. This is not how you treat people. 🤬
