  7. The Mên-an-Tol ('Stone of the Hole') has a 1.2m holed stone with a 51cm hole, flanked by two 1.3m stones. Part of a 19-stone ancient circle, its purpose and position are still a mystery, possibly linked to a burial mound. #mênantol #ancientstonebothering #ancientstones #menantol #cornwall

  8. My husband took this shot on our walk to #MenAnTol earlier today.

It's an iconic megalithic structure - well worth a visit.

It was a perfect walk, the misty weather and the mud only seemed to make it more special. We had the place to ourselves.

  21. Photographic print from a lantern slide of the Mên-an-Tol in the parish of Madron in Cornwall, dated c.1890s. The lantern slide is one of several in the possession of David H. Thomas which show some of the prehistoric monuments and settlements of Cornwall. I have the only photographic prints of the collection. #MênAnTol #Madron #Cornwall #StandingStoneSunday
