I managed to put the hill ponies and the sea birds in yesterday.

Whenever we go to #Pembrokeshire (that's every year), one of the places we ALWAYS visit is nearby #PentreIfan. It's the remains of a #Neolithic tomb, built 5,000 years ago and is surely Pembrokeshire's finest ancient monument. It's an old friend to me now.

Lanyon Quoit in Cornwall, dating back to 3500-2500 BC, predates the pyramids. Once tall enough for a horse and rider to pass under, its capstone weighs over 13 tonnes. Originally atop four stones, it fell in 1815 and was re-erected at a lower height. Its purpose remains debated, from burial chamber to ritual site.

The Mên-an-Tol ('Stone of the Hole') has a 1.2m holed stone with a 51cm hole, flanked by two 1.3m stones. Part of a 19-stone ancient circle, its purpose and position are still a mystery, possibly linked to a burial mound. #mênantol #ancientstonebothering #ancientstones #menantol #cornwall

Here is the Stannon Stone Circle, nestled between streams on Dinnever Hill, 2.5 miles from Camelford. This ancient Cornish ring features 47 upright stones and dates back to the late Neolithic or early Bronze Age.
