Goodmorning early birds, if you go shopping, check out local stores first, it's good for your economy. 😊
On our european map you can search by categories like clothing shops, opticians, fast food etc and it will show you all places at once, so no 'biggest first'.
It comes in 5 languages, go check it out.
https://lokjo.comAh, we're non-profit so feel free to spread the word, thanks!

By using big corporate services, we financially support them to do things we are against. (pollution, profit wars, forced labour, social media radicalizing young people, lobbying etc.)
BUT
When we stop using their products, it will bring a direct end to all these problems.
The solution is right there, in the 'cancel account' button of their services.
Here's some substitutes.
Have a great sunday. 😊

Just to answer many questions, the 'phone' page I've added to Lokjo is not affiliated, which means I'm not making money on 'clicks' in any way.
I'm doing this simply to tell people there is an option to buy european phones.
The map Lokjo is build in a volunteer way too, like many other people do, we care about progress and solving problems.
We run on donations to get the costs done, but we're not -in any way- connected to some sort of profit.
Just to get that clear. 😊

Here's a list of European websites selling (mostly own brand) phones, installed with non-google OS's.
It includes a list of alternative OS to install yourself, with links and modelnumbers etc.
https://www.lokjo.com/eu/oscheck.php
Go check it out, especially after google's latest fine from the EU for (still) tricking europeans into buying american products by blocking EU brands in the searchresults.
Share it if you like, thanks. 😊

Just had a thought thingy:
App-tabs.
When people have a website and users would like to have it as an app, you can set a link on your mobile desktop, which opens a stand-alone browser tab, with the website in it, acting as an App.
This would seperate it from the browser, you can clear cache, set priveliges etc only for that App-tab AND corporations can't take (most of) the data through the OS.

Quick question
How would you prefer Lokjo offers GPS?
a - Activate automatically (if needed, ask permission) when opening the map
b - Let you activate it when you want (if you know it exists)

Recently stumbled about #Mapcarta
Another project (like https://cartes.app/ and @lokjo ) building on excellent #OpenStreetmap data.
While I like Cartes for planning routes, Mapcarta is very good to get an overview and interesting things in a place / area since it integrates #Wikimedia / #Wikidata data quite nicely.

Testing is always exciting.
With adding market-sellers to the maps I hope to support them for example on days like this, where Berlin is scheduled for 41°c.
People will stay in, but can say 'hey, let's see if they have a website where we can order'.
Should be finished soon, will update then.

@lokjo Thanks for building #Lokjo! 👏
Two practical questions:
1. When I look for regular / typical local grocery shop - what icon should I click? When I chose "Groceries" in the main menu, there are several options (such as "street market", "supermarket", "night shop" etc.) but there is not something like "regular local grocery". I mean a local convenience shop where you can buy all basic food. I do not see such option. And this is actually the most important one.
2. Do you plan to add other languages? In Poland, a typical person would like to use Polish, not one of five languages provided. I would like to recommend lokjo to my family and friends but I know that they would not use a website in English.

More and more European local shops are closing because europeans still use US google (maps), and they won't favor local shops.
We need more and more people who go shop at locals, and that's exactly why I build Lokjo, the map which filters corporations and chains from the category search.
Support the european economy, support locals. Use our map. 😊
