Donations are what keeps the european Lokjo map running, and supports my extra working hours on the project.
If you open an account on Liberapay (takes 2 minutes) you can also donate with Bank transfer. Otherwise card or paypal are good too.
(still working on finding an option for Wero, Blik and other european transfers, hope to update soon!)

On the Lokjo map, when clicking the blue Quick button, there's about 60+ different categories for local shops to search for your needs.
There's more to find through the regular search.
I'm working on a fix for some missing ones, which should be done in the next weeks.
If anything isn't there, just let me know.

Lokjo is not just 'a map', it's a solution to many problems.
It helps you find non-corporate locations, so your money doesn't end up in things like lobbying, political bubbles, forced labour, profit-wars, polution, and way more.
It's a nifty little map, with big intentions. 😊

I think 2 years ago I've posted this rough idea as a solution for the draughts in Catalunia, asking if anybody knows an ingeneer etc and to pass the idea on. Maybe it worked!

I've made some improvements on the EU checklist page where you can check from which country the services you use are.
It'll be improved during the next weeks (clickable links to substitutes etc) but this is allready a good start. 😊

Lokjo is a european substitute for googlemaps.
No cookies, no data, no nothing.
When you search locations by category (clothing shop, coffee bar, museum etc) it shows all locations at once. Except for corporations and chains, they get a grey dot.

Lokjo is not build with proprietary code. (like some people for some reason desperately want to make it look like)
And no, it's not officially 'open-source' either, it's 'made with' open source. Attributed of course.
It's a website-with-a-map to support local shops. There's no reason for it to be open source.
Hope that cleared things up a bit.

Yesterday the "European Network for Technological Resilience and Sovereignty" got founded. It looks promising. You can follow the summit today on live-stream

Lokjo is a non-commercial online map for everybody to support local shops, and you can support it with donations.
This will not make me terribly rich*. But it does give the idea of appreciation and pays the coffee during work.

'How to use Lokjo' for dummies
1 - go to the area you would like to search
2 - type the thing you need (pizza, clothingshop, museum, flowers etc)
3 - click on the top result with the magnifying glass.....and voilá. A map showing all searched locations in front of your lovely eyeballs.
If you support European non-corporate shops you could totally share this. I mean you don't háve to, but you could. *wink wink*

It's always good to clear your cookies/cache once in a while, even though most people don't.

If you like to keep settings for Lokjo (language,viewpoint etc) you can just bookmark the URL, so even after clearing the cache it starts with the same settings again. 😊

Can I have a little share please?
After 6 years of free work I finally opened up a donation page where people can support Lokjo. 😊
Lokjo aims to be the first European replacement for googlemaps, while supporting local shops (who can really use an extra now)
In order to grow bigger I need to start working on it, and donations would be a great help.

I hope one day in the not so far future there will be a simple totally european platform where you can open an account to accept simple donations.
I could finally take time to boost Lokjo and boost the EU economy for all. (except corporations) (yeah that's called Karma, baby)

Here's how the filter works which sorts out corporations/chains from the search-results on our map:
Per category a list is generated from all locations in various big cities. When a certain name shows up an x amount of times it get's a 'mention'.
Then, all mentions are checked manually to see if it's actually a company and not something like 'bakery' or 'shoes' etc. If it's valid it get's added to the list.
There, that's the magic under the hood. Pretty basic. 😊

Just to have this out, our map is not using any AI.
And the suggestion buttons are not individually sponsored locations, like on other maps, but 'themes', showing all locations in your area which fit that theme.
I like it like that.
