For #followfriday I don't have specific follows, but a search tip for finding hashtags and people:
When you search, it only asks your local instance. To expand your fedi view, try searching on larger instances in a new window. When you find a person or post you like, paste the url into your *local* search box and your instance will go get it for you. Likes, follows, everything works.

In other news, it's been a good couple of days on the #hydrotower. Cucumber finally had a girl flower and hopefully my qtip worked, plus it cleared the top and successfully trained over. We have no idea what the not-jalapeno actually is, but it's happy. And the cilantro exploded.

I just stumbled upon another local instance similar to our own, right "next door" in the #SanJuanIslands called https://sanjuans.life. Hello over there @jeff, @LeeOnOrcas, et al.! I also appreciate this line in their description: "Local conversation, globally federated with the rest of the world." Nice concise explanation of the concept of a local server. My technical chops were above average around 1992, but since then the wheel has been turning faster than this old hamster.

Trying to get a couple of 20 or 30 years younger friends interested, but haven't seen a good short list of how-to sites on their level.
