Watched this last night and it’s brilliant. Can't say much without spoilers, but it’s so relevant right now. Over the top, very dark at times, but spot-on. Best to go in blind - maybe avoid reviews, don't watch the trailer. Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die.

Yesterday was rough for new releases. Don't Move may have taken the crown of worst of the year from Corporate Retreat. And Hope was a let down (more on that later this weekend). But By Any Means was a pleasant surprise. More engaging than expected, while not being anything too special.
At least next week is a bit full of stuff I'm interested in.

The Witch - rewatch, closer attention. Solid.
The Descent - rewatch, closer attention. I didn't catch the adultery the first time, dirty. The spelunking itself is terrifying without the cave beasts.
The Thaw - I liked it, gross, and you know, possible. Which is terrifying.
Fright Night - WOW Prince Humperdinck has a different look in this one

There Are Monsters (3 stars) - Found footage Invasion of the Body Snatchers rip off. Had some good scares but not amazing.
Psycho 2 (4 stars) - REALLY solid sequel! Watch it if you haven't.
1408 (3 stars) - Eh.. interesting enough. John Cusack is stuck in a hotel room.
Kiki's Delivery Service (5 stars) - A favorite Ghibli film! -
This week, after all the terrible movies I've been watching lately, I thought I'd give myself a break and watch a series that would hopefully be much better. And yes, while the sequels were certainly a big step down, they were far from unbearable.

Atmospheric, claustrophobic and just a brilliant ghost story. Osment is genuinely incredible in this.
The lines between reality and the imagined is so well done here and the twist is wonderful

Happy #LetterboxdFriday everyone! Didnt had a lot of time to watch movies these last weeks, so I'm glad I can finally participate again with 4. Watched my second Ghibli movie ever and once again at my local cinema. It was amazing. Sisu 2 was stupid fun like the first one. More budget, more over the top.

Pressure - More engaging than I anticipated. Andrew Scott is very good as the stoical Scottish meteorologist whose decisions could alter the course of D-Day and WW2.
The Loneliness of Lizards - Short film, featuring lots of salt, and ways of coping with grief.
Avec Kim - Claire Denis’ Miu-Miu short stars Suzanne Lindon as a mechanic, driving around Paris, picking up Kim Gordon. A sparkly hat and pair of mules appear. Good droney guitar soundtrack from KG.
Late Fame - Willem Defoe is very good in this drama about a 60s poet rediscovered by a group of pretentious arty types. Not essential but worth it for his charming performance, showing the dangers of succumbing to flattery, and the duplicity of trust-fund kids.
